The Shawano School District is seeking a licensed, student-centered Library Media Specialist to lead our district's school library program and support digital literacy, research skills, and reading engagement. The Library Media Specialist serves as an instructional leader and resource for students and staff in the areas of literacy, research, and information technology. This role supports student achievement by fostering a love for reading, teaching information literacy skills, managing the district's school libraries, and supporting digital learning initiatives. The ideal candidate will be highly organized and have experience managing multiple school libraries and overseeing library aides.

The Role Responsibilities

This role supports instruction and students with responsibilities to collaborate with teachers to design and deliver instruction that integrates information literacy and digital citizenship, teach students to access, evaluate, and ethically use information across formats, and to promote lifelong reading habits by curating diverse and engaging library collections. This role has responsibilities to program and resource management such as to select, acquire, and maintain a collection of print and digital materials that support curriculum and student interest, organize the library to be a welcoming, inclusive, and productive learning environment, and to implement library management systems and oversee circulation procedures. This role also supports technology integration through supporting the integration of technology tools into classroom instruction, providing guidance and training to staff on digital resources, databases, and educational technology, and maintaining knowledge of emerging technologies relevant to student learning. Furthermore, this role serves in leadership by participating in school improvement planning and professional learning communities, advocating for equitable access to information and technology for all students and promoting intellectual freedom and ethical use of information and technology. This role oversees the library aide in each school.

Role Requirements

As the ideal candidate, you will have a valid Wisconsin DPI License #902 and experience related to the role responsibilities.
