Job Description Summary

The English & Communication Department at Nazareth University of Rochester, New York, invites applications for a tenure-track Communication & Media position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin in fall 2026.

The department seeks candidates committed to teaching excellence at a comprehensive institution that supports both liberal arts and professional programs. Candidates should be able to support the university’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment.

Essential Functions

The ideal candidate will be interested in helping to expand a communication program that is skill-based, interdisciplinary, and culturally aware. We are particularly interested in candidates who draw on diverse perspectives across media and communication studies to guide students in understanding current issues and applying their skills in personal and professional contexts. Candidates with an interest in community-engaged learning are especially encouraged to apply.

The standard teaching load is four courses per semester (generally three preparations with one double section).

Required Education, Experience, Technology and Skills

A Ph.D. in Communication or Media Studies at the time of appointment is required.

Preferred Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills

The successful candidate will be able to teach courses such as Introduction to Media Industries, Oral Communication, Communication Theory, Research Methods, Social Media, and Writing for Digital Media, among others.
