Summary

Under the direction of the Dean of Instructional Services, the part-time librarian is responsible for planning, managing and coordinating all phases of the library and media consistent with state and district laws and policies and consistent with academic quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Supervises library activities including administration of the book and media library, including acquisitions, classifications, cataloging, indexing and inventory. • Trains and supervises personnel (Library assistant). • Formulates, recommends and controls approved Library budget and allocated Library funds. • Responsible for reserve collection: acceptance or deletion of reserve materials and direct faculty contact. • Supervises interlibrary loans. • Selects and evaluates work study students. • Supervises circulation and collection activities. • Plans and develops services for library clientele. • Responsible for media library: and use and maintenance of classroom media equipment. • Other duties may include serving on faculty committees and participation in other college-sponsored events.

Ability to: • Analyze problems, determine effective solutions, take independent action for successful results • Prepare clear, concise and comprehensive written and oral reports • Effectively communicate in both oral and written forms • Establish and maintain effective work relationships • Maintain currency in technological developments in areas of responsibility • Work with designated computer programs and systems
