Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Dean, the Director of Communications & Marketing leads the development and implementation of all marketing and communications strategies for the College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA). Incumbent produces communications to promote and support co-curricular and educational programs, special events, reporting, student recruitment, and community, donor and alumni engagement.
Leads all communications and marketing strategies for CVPA, increasing visibility and engagement across regional/national audiences. Designs and produces digital and print promotional materials for recruitment and marketing of CVPA programs and events. Maintains up to date, visually dynamic college catalog and website aligned with promotion, accreditation, recruitment and audience engagement goals/needs. Designs and produces the college's bi-monthly newsletter. Develops video and photo assets for archive and marketing. Manages donor communications, alumni engagement and fundraising initiatives in collaboration with University Advancement and Alumni Relations. Develops targeted social media strategies and digital ads. Engages with and provides accurate and timely information to media outlets and social channels; generates and responds to social media posts; and writes press releases. Coordinates and promotes specific college and community events and activities, including open houses, recruitment initiatives, fundraising activities and community events. Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, graphic design or an arts-related discipline. At least two years of relevant experience. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite. Expert knowledge of marketing and design principles, strategies and best practices. Understanding of brand management and the ability to design and produce materials and other collateral that ensure consistency. Exceptional graphic design skills. Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to produce and edit a range of engaging written and electronic content for diverse audiences. Effective project and time management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines while working on multiple concurrent projects. Ability to lead a design team. Ability to supervise and mentor student interns. Sufficient technical ability to quickly master software, web management systems, and data collection and reporting tools. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, media outlets and the general public. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in marketing, communications, branding, social media and web design. Experience with photography and video editing. Experience leading a design team.
Additional Comments
Travel/Overtime Requirements:
Occasional evening and weekend work and some regional travel.
Annual Salary/Hiring Range:
$51,911 to $55,631; actual salary depends on qualifications.
