This is a full-time, non-tenure-track, Assistant Teaching professorship.

The candidate must be able to contribute to teaching core coursework in the Acting for the Musical Stage sequence, as well as other courses in the BFA, Musical Theatre curriculum. With a teaching load of 4 + 4 (or 24 load-hour equivalent), this role is well-suited to a performer/educator with a background in musical theatre performance and/or directing.

Duties of this position include: • Appropriate delivery of courses as assigned. • Submission of course syllabi each semester. • Timely submission of all grades. • Compliance with University-mandated training. • Clear and timely communications. • Consistent usage of Roosevelt University email address (to be assigned upon onboarding). • Attendance at Musical Theatre Program meetings. • Attendance at required all-faculty meeting of the College (one per year)

Minimum Qualifications

MFA preferred; significant teaching and/or performing/directing experience in major markets considered in place of earned degree.

Documented record of teaching experience at the collegiate level; significant professional activity and visibility as a performer/director in musical theatre.

Preferred Qualifications

Successful candidates will demonstrate experience teaching students across the music theatre repertoire. Candidates will engage in approaches to course design, content, and delivery that actively works to decolonize historically white-Eurocentric narratives and is based inclusive, student-centered, and culturally responsive pedagogy. A willingness to collaborate with other instructors and departments.

Equipment Operated

Standard office technology (copier, scanner, computer) and studio environment.

Working Conditions

Standard climate and noise-controlled office, studio, and classroom environment. Job is largely sedentary, calling for frequent use of wrist for typing. May be exposed to loud voices and/or instruments from students practicing.
