Through thoughtful content creation, social media engagement, website updates, and cross-team collaboration, this position ensures that the transformative impact of Camp Joy is clearly and consistently communicated to families, partners, donors, and the broader community. By supporting campaigns, sharing authentic stories from campers and programs, and maintaining brand integrity across all channels, the Communications Coordinator helps deepen connection, inspire support, and elevate the mission-driven work that happens every day at Camp Joy.

Content Creation & Coordination

Assist with the creation of written, visual, and video content for use across social media, email, website, and print channels.

Coordinate the flow of stories, photos, and updates from internal teams to the Communications Manager.

Website Support

Update and maintain accurate and timely website content.

Ensure consistency with Camp Joy’s brand and messaging.

Social Media Scheduling & Monitoring

Draft, schedule, and monitor posts on Camp Joy’s social media channels.

Engage with followers and track engagement metrics.

Provide recommendations to enhance reach and impact.

Email Communication

Support the design, drafting, and scheduling of e-newsletters, event announcements, and donor updates.

Event & Campaign Support

Assist with creating communication materials for fundraising, community engagement, and corporate campaigns.

Provide on-site support for photography, video capture, and live posting at events.

Story Gathering & Asset Management

Collect and organize quotes, stories, images, and videos from programs and events.

Maintain organized digital files for easy access by the Advancement Team.

Brand Consistency

Ensure all digital and print materials align with Camp Joy brand standards.

Work under the direction of the Communications Manager to ensure cohesive messaging.

Administrative & Reporting Support

Track and report on communication metrics.

Maintain editorial calendars and project timelines.

Culture

Model the Camp Joy Way: a culture of client focus, collaboration, discipline, continuous improvement, creativity, innovation and accountability focused on Camp Joy’s mission and values.

Work closely with the Communications Manager, Advancement Team, and program staff to support communication needs and deliverables.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred; marketing, communications, journalism, or related field a plus.

1-3 years of experience in communications, marketing, or related role.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace, and design/social media tools (e.g., Canva, Meta Business Suite).

Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.

Valid driver’s license; insurability under Camp Joy’s policy preferred.

Working Conditions

Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Ability to carry supplies up to 10 lbs.

Ability to work an 8-hour shift.

Ability to work indoor and outdoor environments.

Ability to walk on uneven pavement and hiking trails.
