Job Overview
We are seeking a strategic, energetic, and motivated Public Relations Account Supervisor (AS) who is eager to build on past career successes and creatively help tell our clients’ stories in new and innovative ways through strategic earned media and content programs. The ideal candidate has experience in healthcare, biopharma, life sciences agencies or medical technology, understands industry trends, and can effectively reach diverse stakeholders. They should proactively address challenges and manage complex communications programs. The role requires a professional who can work with clients on the leading edge of science and technology and execute program tactics flawlessly while working within the PR department and the larger integrated agency team to realize successful omnichannel campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationships
- Regularly serves as the client’s main contact with the agency on a day‑to‑day basis with minimal oversight.
- Proactively engages with clients, advancing work and ensuring productive discussions; exhibits strong facilitation and leadership qualities during meetings.
- Helps manage client expectations to foster effectiveness and productivity.
- Manages tricky conversations with clients; seeks counsel/involves manager when necessary; sends most materials directly to client with no oversight.
- Acts as a client partner and advocate, leading the development by executing and managing complex earned media projects, programs, and campaigns.
- Oversees communications program development and implementation.
- Spots opportunities because of strong relationships and opens the door for growth conversations; knows when to involve an account management or new business team member.
- Plays a support role in the agency’s new business development program from development and presentation of new business proposals to agency thought leadership and visibility efforts.
Project Oversight
- Plays the primary role in the vision and execution of client work; responsible for timeline creation, client reporting, communication with integrated accounts’ AM/PMs, and ensuring that all client work is executed within accepted client systems/required processes.
- Accountable for insights at project kickoff and ensuring the team is aligned on strategic objectives.
- Demonstrates and applies extensive knowledge on assigned client account(s).
- Exhibits sound judgment to anticipate and effectively solve challenges.
- Manages teams assigned to clients and ensures programs are delivered on time and on budget.
- Responsible for planning and managing client retainers and tracking budget status, including monitoring estimates versus actual expenses and percentage completion.
- Initiates change‑of‑scope discussions when needed to ensure target profitability is achieved.
Internal Relationships
- Establishes strong relationships with all day‑to‑day functional team members and keeps managers and junior staff aware of pertinent client issues.
- Builds partnerships with AM/PM and finance teams and collaborates regularly on integrated accounts to ensure client program alignment.
- Active participation in CG Life social and professional development events (as needed).
- Responsible for quality control at all levels of the client team.
Knowledge & Expertise
- Works collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to define, deliver, and present assigned work.
- Contributes thoughtfully to PR strategy, tactical planning, and creative work; leads client brainstorm calls and provides strategic recommendations for successful program outcomes.
- Strategically applies key client information—business strategy, industry trends/issues, competitive intelligence, stakeholder engagement—to support program execution.
- Strong knowledge of the client’s business and ability to connect strategy to tactical pull‑through.
- Expert media relations skills and provides guidance to teams for successful earned media strategies.
- Provides guidance to junior teams on project assessment and execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of public relations experience, with a focus on the life sciences, medtech, or healthcare industries.
- Experienced in developing and executing strategic PR programs, including media outreach and content creation.
- Experienced in promoting clinical research, product innovations (launches, regulatory milestones, etc.), medical congresses, and data publications.
- Strong ability to distill complex scientific or technical concepts into compelling narratives.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft impactful messaging and pitches.
- Skilled at building and maintaining client and media relationships.
- Leadership and problem‑solving skills with a collaborative, solutions‑oriented mindset.

As required by law in this state, the estimated salary range for this position is $80,000 – $115,000 USD. The range is a good faith estimate of what our ideal candidates are likely to expect and may be tailored within the range based on organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic zone, and the selected candidate’s experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors. This position is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus program subject to the plan rules.
