Responsibilities

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Technical Writer in Tempe, AZ. Summary : The Software Technical Writer will be responsible for producing high-quality documentation that clarifies software functionality, assists users in troubleshooting, and supports developers in understanding system architecture and APIs. This role involves working closely with engineers, product managers, QA, and UX designers to translate technical information into understandable, accurate, and engaging content.

  • Technical Writer will develop, write, and maintain user guides, API documentation, release notes, FAQs, online help, and knowledge base articles
  • Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and QA teams to gather technical details and ensure accuracy
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences

Skills

  • Minimum 3 years as a Technical Writer in a software or technology environment
  • Experience with single-sourcing, structured authoring, or content reuse strategies
  • Experience writing developer-focused documentation (e.g., SDKs, APIs, integrations)
  • Experience with graphic or diagramming tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, Figma, Snagit)
  • Strong understanding of software development concepts, SDLC, APIs, and databases
  • Basic knowledge of programming languages (Java, Python, JavaScript, etc.) to interpret code samples
  • Proficiency with documentation tools (e.g., MadCap Flare, RoboHelp, Confluence, Markdown, DITA, MS Office, or Git-based docs)
  • Ability to quickly grasp new technologies and explain them clearly
  • Ability to prepare and present concepts and vision (written and verbal) to the software development team, management, and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Candidate must be an excellent communicator, have strong attention to detail, and be a problem-solver / critical-thinker

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical / dental / vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
