If you are a passionate storyteller who thrives in both shooting and editing video, we invite you to apply for the role of Creative Video Storyteller. You'll help share the stories that matter most to our audiences in Alabama.
The base salary range is $47,000 to $57,000 per year.

You will cover significant news, vibrant culture, and the diverse communities of Alabama, presenting them in ways that resonate digitally.
Curiosity and agility will be key as you help shape how our stories are told and shared. While embracing the creativity of digital content creation, you'll also maintain the highest journalistic standards of accuracy, ethics, and public service. You’ll have the freedom to experiment with various formats and platforms while ensuring your storytelling remains truthful and impactful.
Your work will span multiple digital platforms, from engaging social media clips to immersive visual features. You will be adept at capturing great footage with both smartphones and professional video equipment, and you will use whatever tools available to you effectively. Your presence will be felt in the communities that matter most to Alabamians, building trust and engagement.
What You'll Do

Report, film, edit, and publish compelling video stories across various topics including breaking news, politics, sports, life, and culture.

Create engaging content tailored for social media that educates, inspires, and ignites conversation.

Travel throughout the state to capture a wide range of stories and landscapes.

Collaborate closely with reporters, editors, and other teams to enhance coverage.

Engage with local communities both online and in person to discover untold stories.

Experiment with different storytelling formats and styles to grow your audience and impact.

Work efficiently under tight deadlines since the pace of news is fast and requires timely publishing.
What You Bring

At least five years of experience in video production, preferably within a newsroom or digital media environment.

Experience shooting with both mobile and professional equipment, able to choose the right tools for each story.

Strong video editing capabilities.

A keen eye for visual storytelling, pacing, and audience engagement.

Ability to manage multiple projects effectively while staying informed on Alabama's news and culture.

Familiarity with SEO, social media analytics, and digital best practices.

A strong passion for storytelling that reflects Alabama's diverse traditions and voices.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with empathy and professionalism.

Drone certification or a willingness to obtain one is a plus.
