Description
Enriching the library experience for our customers by providing planning, development, training and evaluation of library services for adults. Energetic and forward thinking, the Senior Librarian Adult Services performs professional, administrative, and supervisory work. Plans, directs, evaluates, schedules, and coordinates system-wide services and programs for adults.

**Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description.

**Additional compensation based on licensure.

Essential Functions

Plans, directs, evaluates, schedules, and coordinates system-wide services and programs for adults.

Promotes, teaches and provides information literacy training, staff development and training, serves as a resource on adult services for the system, and provides community outreach.

Under the supervision of the Public Services Manager, selects, monitors, and submits orders for books and materials for adults. May directs and supervise ordering from librarians system-wide.

Monitors expenditures of the budget related to adult services and programs. Develops, maintains, and supervises programming resources and files. Purchases, monitors purchasing of operational supplies for adult services and programs.

Monitors contracts with vendors providing services for library programs to ensure compliance.

Delivers information services (reference and readers advisory) to customers, using reference research technology and tools.

Develops recommendations for programs, policies and procedures to improve library services for adults.

Under the supervision of the Public Services Manager initiates and effectively recommends for approval by the Division Manager, with final approval by the Department Director, hiring, termination, performance evaluations, disciplinary and/or commendatory action for adult services librarians.

Conducts meetings, workshops and provides training for adult services librarians.

Acts as a liaison between the library, and organizations serving adults in the community. Builds community partnerships with organizations and community groups providing services and life-long learning opportunities for adults.

Responsible for adult program marketing collateral. Responsible for content of library web pages and social media.

Prepares and submits regular and special statistical, management, and other reports as required.

Works with Public Services Manager to resolve complaints of customers related to library programs for adults.

Attends professional library conferences, seminars, and network committees; reviews adult programming websites and professional literature. Reports library trends, forecasts and predictions to Public Services Manager in monthly meeting.

Maintains monthly program statistical spreadsheet. Provides statistical information for State Library-State Aid as requested. Contributes information for reports, as required.

Provides current and up-to-date access to resources, technical and program supplies. Maintains a methodology/process for tracking available inventory of operational supplies. Ensures that adult services program supplies are purchased and

Performs other related work as required

Additional Duties:

In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.
Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in Library Science from an accredited American Library Association accredited college or university. Three (3) years professional library experience, one (1) year of which must have been in public or youth services.
A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Ability to communicate library mission, services, and resources to the public; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships; use teamwork skills; provide high quality customer service; contribute to a positive environment for patrons and staff.
Considerable knowledge of project management practices, in-depth, professional level knowledge of library principles, practices and administration.
Position requires professional level knowledge of library automation systems, search strategies, electronic resources, databases, and live-chat reference services. Position requires advanced knowledge of Microsoft suite products.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.

Competitive Wages: Our compensation system includes competitive hiring salaries.

Paid Time Off: New full-time employees accrue 20 days per year of Paid Time Off (16 days for 24-hour shift personnel). New part-time employees accrue 83 hours per year of Paid Time Off. Accrual rates increase with service time.

Bereavement Leave: Employees may receive up to one week paid leave per fiscal year for absence due to the death of an immediate family member.
Florida Retirement System: All employees in regularly established positions are automatically covered from the first day of employment. Seminole County makes contribution on behalf of the employee and the employee is also required to make a 3% contribution.

Health Insurance:Health Insurance is effective the first of the month after completing 30 calendar days of employment. Seminole County offers a Point of Service (POS) plan. Dependent coverage is also available, the cost is split between the employee and employer. This benefit is not extended to part-time employees.
Life Insurance: Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance for employees, equal to one times annual salary. Not extended to part-time employees.
Long-Term Disability: Provides 60% of salary after 6 months of disability. Not extended to part-time employees.
Optional benefits (employee-paid) for full-time employees:
Deferred Compensation Plan (457): Employees may choose to have pre-tax payroll deductions made for deposit into this savings plan up to an IRS-established maximum.
Dental Insurance: A choice of 3 plans is available for employees and dependents at employee expense.
Additional Life Insurance: At employee expense, additional life insurance up to five times annual salary; dependent coverage also available.
Short-Term Disability Insurance: 60% of salary for the first six months of disability at employee expense.
Cancer and Specified Disease: Pays a benefit directly to the employee if being treated for this disease.
Flexible Spending Account: Apre-tax account for childcare and un-reimbursed medical expenses.
Pre-Tax Payroll Deductions: Under Section 125 of the IRS Code, certain payroll deductions for insurance coverage may be taken out prior to income being taxed.
