Salary: The previously determined range for this position was $36.08.36/hr. to $80.98/hr. The final rate offered will be determined by the collective bargaining agreement, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a rate at or near the top of the full range for a position.

Position Summary The Staff Nurse I provides direct patient care and works to improve patient outcomes by integrating Shared Leadership, Evidence Based Practice, Relationship Based Care, and standards of nursing excellence into clinical practice. The Staff Nurse I uses professional practice models, current standards of practice, and clinical experience to provide quality patient care as measured by nursing quality standards and governing/accrediting health care bodies. The Staff Nurse I engages with patients and families to advocate for the patient, develops an educational plan, and collaborates with the health care team to promote effective patient care. The Staff Nurse I participates in organizational, departmental, and shared leadership activities and supports department and unit goals in daily behavior.
Duties & Responsibilities
Develops, implements, and updates the patient's plan of care based on ongoing assessment and input from the patient’s family.
Shares information and collaborates with the health care team to promote effective patient care.
Verifies and implements orders from physician, PA, and/or APRN by performing interventions as prescribed and documenting accurately in the electronic medical record.
Engages and obtains information from patient and/or family to develop an educational plan.
Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to patient’s changing needs.
Engages support personnel by delegating appropriate tasks per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provides support and feedback.
Advocates for patients, families, and their significant others, the community, and the nursing profession.
Integrates knowledge, evidence-based research, current standards of practice, and clinical experience to provide quality patient care as measured by nursing quality standards and other governing bodies.
Assumes role of Charge Nurse when assigned, utilizing appropriate resources and tools.
Collaborates with other nurses to identify, promote, and provide positive learning experiences for staff and students.
Serves as preceptor and/or resource to other nursing, support staff and students.
Takes responsibility for continued professional growth by identifying learning needs and initiating strategies to meet them.
Other duties as assigned. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Current BLS/CPR and/or other required unit-specific certifications.
Current advanced cardiac life support, or within 6 months of hire for main hospital.
Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills and work history required.
Preferred Qualifications One year of RN experience in a hospital/clinic environment.
