Summary:

The Meta Reality Labs Research Team is at the forefront of developing the future of virtual and augmented reality. Our mission is to innovate technologies that will reshape how we connect, work, and play, similar to how smartphones transformed our daily lives. We are creating groundbreaking AR glasses and VR headsets by advancing optics, computer vision, audio technologies, graphics, and more. Specifically, our audio team aims to craft virtual sounds that are indistinguishable from reality and redefine human hearing. We invite interns to help develop immersive audio experiences for capturing and sharing real-life moments using spatial audio technology.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implement novel algorithms to address audio research challenges.

  2. Develop experimental designs and execute evaluations for new audio technologies.

  3. Collaborate with researchers across audio and acoustic engineering fields.

  4. Effectively communicate research progress and findings.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience with spatial audio capture algorithms.

  • Expertise in audio signal processing, binaural audio technology, microphone array processing, machine learning for spatial audio applications, beamforming, spatial audio evaluation, or spatial audio coding.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, C#, Python, Max/MSP, or MATLAB.

  • Must be eligible to work in the country of employment at the time of hire.

  • Pursuing a PhD in Acoustics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM fields.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in real-time multichannel audio processing and coding.

  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.

  • Experience with game engines such as Unity, Unreal, or CryEngine.

  • Demonstrated research achievements through accepted papers at prestigious conferences or journals.

  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment.

  • Intent to return to degree program after internship completion.

Public Compensation:

$7,650/month to $12,134/month + benefits.
