Summary:
The Meta Reality Labs Research Team is at the forefront of pioneering virtual and augmented reality technologies that are set to become as critical as smartphones and personal computers. Our mission is to revolutionize how we work, play, and connect by developing innovative AR glasses and VR headsets. This includes breakthroughs in optics and displays, computer vision, audio, graphics, brain-computer interfaces, haptic interaction, and more. The audio team specifically focuses on creating virtual sounds indistinguishable from reality and redefining human auditory experiences. These efforts aim to connect individuals across distances and enhance conversations even in challenging environments.
We invite motivated candidates to apply for our research projects, which will be tailored to align with your skills and experiences alongside our current research needs. Our internships are designed for a duration of twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) weeks, with various start dates available throughout the year.
Responsibilities:
Develop, document, implement, and optimize innovative algorithms for audio research challenges.
Design and execute experiments to assess new audio technologies.
Collaborate with a diverse team of researchers across audio and acoustic engineering disciplines.
Work alongside software engineers to ensure seamless integration of research findings and algorithms.
Effectively communicate your research objectives, progress, and outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications:
At least 1 year of experience working with wave phenomena, acoustic simulation methods, numerical modeling, or related areas.
Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, CUDA, Python, MATLAB, or others.
Understanding of specific research areas, including numerical simulation of acoustics, spatial rendering, and machine learning techniques applied to numerical methods.
Eligibility for work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire.
Candidates must currently be pursuing or have obtained a PhD in Acoustics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong foundation in mathematics related to linear algebra, computational physics, and numerical methods.
Experience with parallel computing, algorithm design, and large-scale computing systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of physical modeling, particularly in waves and acoustics, with a solid grasp of core physics concepts.
Experience with psychoacoustics, deep learning techniques, and DSP fundamentals.
A proven track record of impactful research as demonstrated through accepted papers in top-tier conferences or journals.
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively in a team environment.
Intent to return to a degree program following the completion of the internship.
Compensation:
Monthly compensation ranges from $7,650 to $12,134, plus benefits.
