Library Technician - Reformatting Support
Location: Onsite (as required by National Library of Medicine)
Employment Type: Full-time (Contract)

ZAI, is seeking an experienced Library Technician to support the National Library of Medicine (NLM) in collection reformatting activities. This position requires handling, scanning, and processing both historical and contemporary library materials with precision and care.
Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Project Manager, Library Technicians will:
  • Select, gather, track, and prepare source materials for scanning
  • Review batch spreadsheets, scanning notes, and assess the condition of materials prior to scanning
  • Inventory and rehouse source materials
  • Ship and receive materials scanned or copied offsite
  • Scan source materials using approved equipment and methods
  • Process images and associated metadata
  • Perform QA/QC on scanned images and metadata
  • Assess the condition of source materials after scanning; coordinate repair if needed
  • Return materials to the proper location in the collection
Performance Expectations:
  • Reformat approximately 500,000 pages during the initial 12-month base period
  • Maintain an error rate of 3% or less on all reformatting tasks
  • Page volume may be adjusted at the discretion of the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) or designated representative
Qualifications:
  • Experience in digitization, reformatting, or digital library services
  • Familiarity with scanning tools, metadata standards, and digital file processing
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance
  • Experience handling fragile or rare materials preferred
  • Prior work experience in a library or archival environment is a plus
