Salary: The previously determined range for this position was $38.26hr to $85.82/hr. The final rate offered will be determined by the collective bargaining agreement, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.

Illinois residency requirement: Must reside in Illinois within 180 days of the hire date.

Position Summary. The Staff Nurse II is accountable for delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship‑Based Care model. The Staff Nurse II provides direct patient care, improves outcomes through shared leadership, evidence‑based practice, and quality improvement. The role includes education, quality initiatives, and serving as a clinical role model and educational resource for staff.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and updates the patient’s plan of care based on ongoing assessment.
  • Shares information and collaborates with team members for effective patient care.
  • Verifies and implements orders from physicians, physician assistants, or advanced practice nurses.
  • Engages and obtains information to develop patient education plans.
  • Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to patient needs.
  • Delegates tasks per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provides support.
  • Advocates for patients, families, community, and nursing profession.
  • Assumes charge nurse role when assigned.
  • Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence‑based research, and clinical experience to provide quality care.
  • Maintains personal professional growth through continuous learning.
  • Identifies recurring unit problems and participates in problem‑solving.
  • Plans, presents, and evaluates learning experiences for staff and students.
  • Serves as preceptor or resource to nursing, support staff, and students.
  • Leads unit‑based quality initiatives and provides feedback and education to staff.
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BSN (or higher) required from an accredited nursing program.
  • Registered Professional Nurse licensure in Illinois.
  • One year of experience comparable to Staff Nurse I.
  • Current BLS/CPR and/or other required unit specific certifications.
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written) to facilitate therapeutic relationships.
  • Intermediate computer skills with proficiency in Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history.
