General Description

SUNY Niagara seeks a part time instructor of Music for the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences department. Classes are held on the main campus in Sanborn, NY, generally any time between Monday – Friday, 9am – 6pm, with occasional Friday, Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon commitments for concerts/events. The successful candidate must maintain a flexible schedule.

Compensation: $960 per lecture hour / $860 per lab hour.

Typical Work Activities

  • Teach courses in the agreed delivery format.
  • Track attendance as needed.
  • Report on student learning outcomes at semester end.
  • Report grades at semester conclusion.

Essential Functions

  • Work with and teach a diverse student population.
  • Speak publicly before groups of people.
  • Effectively communicate with students, co‑workers, supervisors and campus community.
  • Develop, prepare and present information.
  • Operate computers.
  • Perform duties physically as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music.
  • Six years of teaching experience at college/high school or professional level.
  • Ability to communicate and teach students at all levels of musicianship.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Music or Doctor of Musical Arts.
  • Experience teaching courses in Guitar, Jazz Band/Ensemble, Piano.
  • Professional performance experience.
  • Experience teaching college‑level courses.
  • Experience with instructional technology.
  • Ability to read music.
