This leadership role is essential in shaping the station’s public presence, promoting content and events, and overseeing all marketing initiatives. The Marketing Director works closely with the Executive Board and station staff to enhance Impact 89FM’s engagement with its audience and community partners. Position Summary The Marketing Director oversees all aspects of Impact 89FM’s marketing efforts, including promotional campaigns, event partnerships, and audience engagement through Impact 89FM’s email newsletter. This role involves leading a team of paid and volunteer staff, developing and implementing marketing plans, organizing and staffing tabling events and event DJs, organizing staff bonding events, and ensuring a cohesive brand identity across platforms. The Marketing Director also plays a critical role in external partnerships, helping to expand the station’s reach within the Michigan State University community and beyond. Key Responsibilities Marketing Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement promotional strategies to increase awareness and audience engagement, including managing Impact 89FM’s email newsletter to connect with listeners and promote station content. Direct Reports: Oversee and manage the Promotions Director, Engagement Editor, and Marketing Assistant. Content Promotion: Work with the Digital Team to produce marketing materials. Event Promotion: Promote Impact 89FM’s events through print media, partnerships, and other promotional opportunities. Campus & Community Outreach: Collaborate with student organizations, MSU departments, and local entities to create partnership opportunities. Event Organization: Plan, organize, and staff tabling events and coordinate event DJs to ensure Impact 89FM has a strong presence at campus and community events. Staff Bonding Events: Organize and facilitate staff bonding events to foster a positive and engaged station culture. On-Call Responsibility: Serve as the first point of contact for technical issues related to FM operations during assigned Director on Duty weekends. Editorial & Content Strategy: Lead a team to plan, write, edit, and publish marketing-related content across Impact 89FM’s platforms. Brand Consistency: Maintain a strong brand identity across all marketing initiatives, ensuring a consistent visual and editorial style. Compliance: Ensure adherence to university, FCC, copyright, and trademark regulations. Event Support: Represent Impact 89FM at events and assist with marketing-related initiatives. Project Management: Oversee marketing-related initiatives and ensure timely completion of department projects and station-wide goals. Basic Requirements Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at Michigan State University. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and mentorship skills. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Excellent communication skills with timely response expectations during the work week. Familiarity with marketing and event planning. Willingness to work outside regular hours as needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience at Impact 89FM with progressively advanced responsibilities. Leadership experience and familiarity with the station’s mission, vision, and values. Experience leading or being part of a marketing team. Why Join Impact 89FM?
