Overview Develop custom web templates, themes, blocks, applications, secure forms, and responsive design for integration into the College's external websites, campus portal, and mobile presence, and ensuring that the College's web presence is functional, usable, aesthetically pleasing, and functionally consistent throughout the various sites.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, install, maintain, and qualify web pages, themes, blocks, and applications for college external websites, primarily in WordPress. In conjunction with the Admissions and Marketing & Communications teams, develop accessible, functional, mobile-responsive, and aesthetically pleasing web designs and tools. Craft and support campus-wide integration of the latest technology components for all web presences, working with every department on campus. Assist Web Services in creating and implementing training workshops and materials for web editors. (50%)
Serve as the User Experience Developer and advisor for the College, taking the lead role in developing aesthetically pleasing and functional web applications with a consistent level of functionality across the official College web sites. Meet with departments to educate and craft new code elements as needed. (20%)
Develop, install, maintain, and qualify Office 365/SharePoint web sites, features, web parts, and applications for the campus portal. Work directly with other members of the Web Services team, as well as members of campus departments, to take the lead on projects to customize code and develop applications to solve needs/problems at hand. Conduct ongoing research and training to remain current with the various web and programming technologies in the ever-changing environment of the web. (15%)
Maintain shared 24/7 availability with the other members of the Web Services team. Monitor cell phone and work email addresses. Be available to provide after‑hours support for code/page troubleshooting in case of an emergency outage of the web sites. (10%)
Develop, modify, test, and deploy miscellaneous applications to include mobile, digital signage, custom academic applications, 25Live web calendars, and Eventbrite events. (5%)
MARGINAL DUTIES

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in computer programming, web development, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Five to seven years of web development and design experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical, organizational and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment within all levels of the College.
Ability to prioritize projects.
Ability to learn and apply knowledge quickly.
Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and Office 365.
Experience administering and developing for WordPress.
Ability to explain complicated technical ideas to a lay audience.
Knowledge of Mobile development.
Familiarity with Windows and Apple operating systems.
Familiarity with web server software and technologies such as Apache and Nginx, UNIX/Linux, and SSH/SFTP.
Demonstrated knowledge of principles of design, including color, form and typography and the ability to apply them to the web.
Demonstrated knowledge of best practices of responsive design and responsive user interfaces on a variety of devices.
Demonstrated knowledge of web accessibility standards.
Knowledge and experience with cloud-based hosting and development operations, including Git or other version control technologies.
Knowledge, comfort, and experience integrating web apps with consumable web APIs.
Demonstrated experience building modern, accessible responsive websites using PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
