JOB TITLE: Designer II – Interior Design
JOB SUMMARY
The Designer-II is an experienced “unlicensed” Interior Designer/Architect who actively participates in the delivery of a project design and the production of project collateral by performing Interior Design assignments under the direction of a Licensed Interior Designer/ Registered Architect. A Designer-II is responsible for preparing, in a self‑directed manner, presentation, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration documentation as directed by their leaders/team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Continue to develop interior design skills to include drawing, rendering, and visual/presentation skills
Maintain and advance a detailed knowledge of materials and finishes, and assist in the selection of appropriate solutions for projects
Advance computer software skills, including 3D rendering capabilities, (Revit, Photoshop, sketch‑up, word, excel, etc.)
Further advance sustainability requirements, and consider pursuing credentials in select initiatives
Further develop an ability to make design and documentation decisions using discretion and good judgement
Prepare and produce design and construction drawings, as directed
Advance one's understanding of building systems, codes, and construction methods
Contribute as required to support the success of the studio and firm
Actively working on the NCIDQ registration process
Collaborate with other Cooper Carry staff/studios as required to meet project objectives.
Adhere to both Cooper Carry and the Client guidelines and meet project design objectives, deadlines, and client requirements
Actively participate in professional development both inside and outside the firm
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an accredited Interior Design/Architecture program with Bachelor’s or Master’s level degree
One to three+ years’ experience in a Commercial Design setting
Ability to work with minimal supervision and be a strong self‑starter
Demonstrated ability to produce high quality design/construction drawings
Ongoing growth in the ability to make design and documentation decisions requiring discretion and good judgement
Pursuant of taking/passing all NCIDQ exams to become licensed
Creative and collaborative with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced team atmosphere
Advanced knowledge of required computer software; including knowledge of Autodesk Revit and Adobe Photoshop and/or InDesign
A strong desire to continue to learn, ask questions, and be taught numerous things
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
