The Senior Structural Designer is responsible for working under the supervision of Senior Engineers and Designers to develop structural engineering solutions to the design of buildings and other load‑bearing structures.
Explore your tasks and responsibilities
Works closely with design and technical teams including other disciplines in supporting the development of design deliverables such as Construction Documents, including drawings and specifications
Guides and oversees the team to achieve the correct technical solutions to difficult design and client problems
Performs duties of Autodesk Building Systems Software
Reviews structural drawings for completeness, constructability and coordination
Maintains primary accountability for all structural designs, sharing engineering responsibility
Mentors Interns and junior members of project teams
Participates in the development of office standards and procedures
Other duties as assigned
Skills & Knowledge
Understands construction drawings/plans and can visualize structural elements in three dimensions
Proficient with Autodesk Building Systems Software
Be capable of enjoying the work and keeping a positive attitude in a challenging environment
Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills in meetings and reports along with respect, tact and diplomacy
Understands industry, drafting and design standards associated with detailing and construction document development
Knowledgeable and productive with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.)
Be capable of enjoying the work and keeping a positive attitude in a challenging environment
Exhibit characteristics of an emerging or developed leader
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Show your expertise Minimum Required
Education: Associate’s degree required
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Inspection Certification preferred (e.g. ACI concrete or masonry special inspector)
6+ years of experience
Preferred
Experience working in an office environment and preferably has experience working on a construction site
Experience working remotely and virtually
Experience with structural Finite‑Element analysis software such as RAM, STAAD, SAP, ETABS
Experience with Design‑Build a plus
