About the role

CatFace is looking for a part-time In-House Product Photographer to create clean, consistent, high-quality product imagery for our website and marketing channels. You'll own the in-house shoot process-from setup to breakdown-and deliver retouched, web-ready assets (including cutouts and PNGs) on schedule. You'll collaborate closely with Marketing (mood boards, creative direction) and Merch (samples, deadlines), and you'll be comfortable receiving feedback.

Key responsibilities

In-house product photography (on-site shoots)

Own day-to-day product photography for CatFace's website, ensuring consistent, high-quality imagery across launches and restocks.

  • Photograph products in-house for e-commerce/web use (dynamic angles + any needed detail shots).
  • Manage studio workflow end-to-end: product prep, lighting/camera setup, staging, set up + break down.
  • Maintain shot consistency and visual standards (lighting, exposure, composition, brand look).
  • Keep products and files organized so shoots run smoothly and nothing goes missing.
Editing + web asset delivery (edit from home)

Prepare polished, web-ready files that meet CatFace standards and upload requirements.
  • Retouch and edit images in Adobe Photoshop (or related Adobe software).
  • Create background cutouts and transparent PNGs as needed.
  • Export correct formats and sizes for the website (including clean crops, cutoffs, and naming conventions).
  • Respond to feedback, revise selects, and turn updates quickly.
Marketing support (deadlines + creative alignment)

Partner with Marketing to ensure photos support campaigns.
  • Collaborate on mood boards/shot direction to match campaign needs.
  • Track photography deadlines tied to launches, promos, and seasonal moments.
  • Share status updates and flag risks early (missing samples, reshoots, retouch complexity, timeline conflicts).
  • Work collaboratively during reviews-iterate based on feedback from photoshoots.
Events & conventions coverage (occasional travel)

Capture on-brand content in fast-paced environments during assigned events/conventions.
  • Travel occasionally to events and conventions to photograph booth/product/brand moments as needed.
  • Deliver selects and edited assets on agreed timelines post-event.
  • Pack/prep gear and ensure efficient setup for on-location shooting.
Merch coordination (samples only: shipping/receiving)

Coordinate with Merch strictly for sample logistics needed for photography.
  • Coordinate shipping/receiving of product samples for shoots (tracking, confirmations, basic handoff).
  • Maintain visibility on what's incoming, what's overdue, and what's needed next.
  • Communicate sample delays that affect shoot schedules and marketing deadlines.
Qualifications

Required
  • Product photography experience (in-house, studio, or e-commerce).
  • Photo editing/retouching experience with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop (or related Adobe editing software).
  • Experience producing clean cutouts and transparent PNGs for web use.
  • Strong organization and ability to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and collaborating cross-functionally.
Nice to have
  • Experience shooting at events and conventions.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce image standards.
  • Tethered shooting experience (Capture One/Lightroom) and basic color correction.
Skills that make someone successful
  • Consistency brain: you can match lighting/angles/edit style across many SKUs.
  • Retouch confidence: clean cutouts, polished edits, and fast revisions without quality slipping.
  • Deadline-friendly: you plan ahead, communicate early, and deliver on time.
  • Team collaborator: you take direction well, share progress clearly, and iterate without ego.
  • Logistics aware: you can coordinate samples/receiving so shoots don't stall.
Reporting & collaboration
  • Reports to: Marketing Manager
  • Works closely with: Marketing team, Merch (sample coordination only), and Operations/Logistics (shipping/receiving touchpoints)
Example deliverables (what you'll own or co-own)
  • Web-ready product image sets per SKU (edited + exported correctly)
  • Cutouts + transparent PNGs delivered to spec for the website
  • Retouched selects with revision rounds based on feedback
  • Weekly shoot/edit pipeline updates aligned to marketing deadlines
  • Sample tracking notes (what's received/needed) to keep shoots unblocked
  • Event/convention photo coverage with post-event edited asset delivery
Job type
  • Location: Hybrid - Austin, Texas / On-site photography + remote editing
  • Schedule: Part-Time / Weekly schedule with flexibility around product deliveries and marketing deadlines
  • Travel: Occasional travel for conventions/events.
  • Compensation: $35/hr
