Product Marketing Lead, PEO – Gusto

About Gusto

At Gusto we’re on a mission to grow the small business economy by handling payroll, health insurance, 401(k)s, and HR so owners can focus on their craft and customers.

About the Role

We’re looking for a customer‑obsessed, impact‑driven Product Marketing Lead to build and scale the go‑to‑market strategy for Gusto’s Professional Employer Organization (PEO) offering—a bundled HR, payroll, benefits, and compliance solution for more complex small businesses.

You’ll partner with Product, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Data Science to build and execute a scalable GTM engine, using AI tools to accelerate research and refine positioning.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities

  • Lead customer and market research to define ideal customer profiles and segmentation.
  • Develop differentiated positioning and messaging for SMBs and other audiences.
  • Own GTM planning and execution from pilot to full launch, building frameworks for acquisition, cross‑sell, and retention.
  • Create sales enablement materials and partner with sales leadership for training.
  • Advocate customer voice in product roadmap and pricing strategy.
  • Track KPIs, iterate quickly, and grow impact using data and experimentation.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in marketing or product management, with 3+ in product marketing.
  • Minimum 2 years in the PEO industry.
  • Proven track record of launching products or business lines that drive measurable impact.
  • Strong understanding of HR, benefits, or payroll systems and the SMB buyer journey.
  • Excellent storytelling and communication skills.
  • Quantitative thinker who ties GTM execution to outcomes and uses AI for insights.
  • Highly collaborative, proactive, and thrives in ambiguity.

Compensation & Work

Target salary: $153,000–$180,000/yr in Denver, Phoenix, Atlanta, and Las Vegas; $180,000–$210,000/yr in San Francisco & New York. Compensation subject to experience.

Gusto has offices in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees in these locations will work from the office 2–3 days per week, per company policy. Remote work approved with reliable internet.
