Position Summary Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position will focus on the mechanical design and development of semi‑custom and standard‑designed conveyor and material‑handling equipment for the package and pallet conveying industry. The work is project based across a wide variety of equipment, applications, and requirements. Ideal candidates should differentiate themselves with technical competencies.

Responsibilities Develop semi‑custom and standard conveyor solutions using 3D modeling and sheet metal techniques that fit project and/or company standards within schedule while considering fabrication, assembly, maintenance, installation, and serviceability.

Work with the team to continuously improve procedures and processes to improve safety, quality, and profitability.

Able to handle multiple projects at once.

Ensure necessary details and dimensions are prepared and accurately applying applicable standards.

Prepare detailed fabrication and assembly drawings from the final three‑dimensional model and ensure completeness of data on prints.

Produce process documentation such as hand sketches, process sheets, and inspection plans as required.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicant must be legally authorized to work in the United States. No visa sponsorship available.

Minimum two‑year degree or certificate in 3D CAD, Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, or Mechanical Design.

2+ years of conveyor or machine design or mechanical 3D CAD experience.

Thorough understanding of 3D design software, SolidWorks preferred.

Working knowledge of power transmission products, pneumatics, hydraulics, and electric motors.

General knowledge of metal fabrication methods including machining and forming.

Basic understanding of AutoCAD preferred.

Proficient in MS Office.

Experience with ERP systems (Epicor) a plus.

Job shop manufacturing experience strongly preferred.

Ability to travel as needed (limited).

– Contributes to the creation of solutions. Active participant in design and brainstorming sessions. Regularly suggests new technologies. Offers design alternatives during problem‑solving sessions. Draws on customer and industry understanding.

Design / Technical Analysis

– Sought out to solve design problems; directs peers when answers are unknown; presents solution methods in formal design reviews; develops detailed drawings with little supervision; leverages manufacturing knowledge.

Design Tools

– Anticipates the department’s needs; identifies areas for new tools; creates time‑saving processes.

Systems Expertise

– Recognizes how other design elements affect work; understands impact on upstream and downstream processes.

Organized and detail oriented.

Collaborative, team builder and impactful coach and mentor.

Proficient with Microsoft applications and understands ERP systems for manufacturing.
