Base Pay $20.00/hr – $25.00/hr
Company Overview We are a growing Licensed Home Care Services Agency (LCHSA) committed to delivering exceptional, compassionate care across multiple counties. As our operations expand, we are seeking a Part‑Time Authorization Specialist (20 hours per week) with strong Homecare Homebase (HCHB) experience to support our administrative and clinical teams.
Position Overview The Part‑Time Authorization Specialist is responsible for obtaining, managing, and maintaining authorizations for home care services. This role ensures timely submission of documentation, supports compliance with payor and regulatory requirements, and helps maintain smooth and efficient care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Obtain, verify, and maintain authorizations for LCHSA services, including HHA and supportive care services.
Process daily authorization requests through Homecare Homebase (HCHB) accurately and efficiently.
Communicate with insurance companies, MLTCs, Managed Care plans, Medicare Advantage, and other payors for timely approvals.
Track authorization statuses, expirations, and utilization to avoid service interruptions.
Partner with intake, scheduling, clinical teams, and billing to ensure proper coordination of care.
Review reports and resolve authorization discrepancies proactively.
Ensure all documentation follows payor guidelines and LCHSA standards.
Maintain detailed, organized records and assist with audits as needed.
Qualifications
1‑2 years of experience in an Authorization Specialist role within an LCHSA or home care environment.
Mandatory hands‑on experience with Homecare Homebase (HCHB).
Strong knowledge of LCHSA workflows, payor requirements, and utilization processes.
Excellent communication skills with payors and internal team members.
Detail‑oriented and highly organized.
Ability to manage priorities within a part‑time work schedule.
Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, MLTC, and Managed Care authorizations.
Preferred Skills
Experience with visit/utilization management.
Knowledge of New York State LCHSA regulations.
Bilingual language ability.
