Overview UMIAQ Design is seeking a licensed Senior Architect to assist with leading the design team in production and coordination of project deliverables for all phases of architectural design. Direct interface with clients, agencies, and the public is an integral component of this position. The Senior Architect will work and interact with a small team of design professionals in a collaborative office setting located in Anchorage, Alaska.

UMIAQ Design provides architectural, engineering, and surveying services for projects around the state of Alaska.

Responsibilities

Provide architectural design and project management for a range of building projects.

Coordinate all aspects of project development and construction administration, including:

Collaborate with clients to determine project requirements and design parameters.

Develop architectural drawings and specifications and coordinate project deliverables for all phases of design, permitting, bidding, construction management, and inspection.

Ensure that designs comply with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations.

Review construction materials and techniques to ensure they meet quality standards.

Coordinate with design team, including in-house disciplines, outside consultants, with engineers, contractors, and other professionals involved in the design process.

Interface with clients, agencies, and the public.

Exercise independent judgment and professionalism and be able and willing to work as part of a cooperative team environment.

Assist in the development of proposals.

Highly developed skills in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Understanding of architectural project management.

Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes and regulations.

Understanding of building materials and methods.

Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with fellow team members, clients, construction workers, and other professionals involved in the design and construction process.

Attention to detail, motivated, and self-reliant.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Commitment to own professional growth.

Qualifications

Registered, professional architect in the State of Alaska.

At least 15 to 20+ years of experience in design and production.

Preferred Experience

Arctic or northern design experience.

Working Conditions

Travel occasionally to remote job sites in Alaska accessible via small aircraft or other small, motorized vehicle.
