UNS North America is seeking a proactive and dynamic Project Architect/Designer to manage multidisciplinary teams on high-profile architectural and urban projects in Austin and/or New York State. This hybrid role bridges conceptual design, technical development, digital workflows, and project execution, ensuring design excellence is carried through every stage—from concept to construction.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Technical Integration: Translate conceptual ideas into coordinated architectural strategies, detailed systems, and clear documentation; lead technical resolution of complex geometries, assemblies, and performance-driven design challenges; develop and manage advanced digital workflows using Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit, and Dynamo; ensure design integrity throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Leadership & Coordination: Lead projects from early concept through construction, organizing schedules, deliverables, and team workflows; drive BIM coordination, interdisciplinary integration, and alignment across design teams and consultants; maintain clarity of direction and high-quality standards in all project outputs.

Client & Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, developers, and external partners; communicate project goals, risks, and opportunities clearly and confidently; facilitate presentations, workshops, and design reviews.

NYC Regulatory Navigation: Coordinate NYC zoning, DOB processes, code compliance, and agency submissions; anticipate regulatory constraints and guide teams toward strategic, compliant solutions.

Quality, Risk & Process Management: Identify risks early and propose actionable, design-aligned solutions; oversee QA/QC processes for models, drawings, and deliverables; maintain transparent documentation of decisions and project changes.

Mentorship & Team Culture: Support and guide designers in digital tools, design iteration, and documentation; contribute to a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and collaborative learning.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in architecture or related fields, with proven project leadership.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture (Licensure is a plus).

Expertise in Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit, and computational design workflows.

Strong technical understanding of building systems, materials, and interdisciplinary coordination.

Experience navigating NYC zoning, codes, DOB permitting, and construction processes and/or familiarity with Austin Building Codes, TCM, and Urban Planning Policies, Codes, and Regulations.

Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.

Demonstrated ability to balance design ambition with technical and practical constraints.
