Job Description
UNS North America seeks a visionary Senior Architect/Designer with strong conceptual skills, advanced digital fluency, and the ability to translate design vision into coordinated, buildable solutions. This key role will shape early design direction while supporting technical development and interdisciplinary coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership & Concept Development:
Contribute significantly to the conceptual and schematic direction of projects.
Develop design narratives, diagrams, volumetric studies, and spatial strategies with clarity and originality.
Support form‑finding, façade development, program strategies, and experience‑driven design.
Technical & Digital Integration:
Translate design concepts into coordinated architectural systems and detailed development strategies.
Build and manage 3D/BIM models in Rhino, Grasshopper, and Revit with precision.
Integrate structural, MEP, façade, environmental, and mobility inputs into the evolving design.
Support digital workflows that enhance efficiency, quality, and design performance.
Project Coordination:
Assist Project Managers and Project Architects in producing and organizing design deliverables.
Participate in interdisciplinary coordination sessions and ensure feedback is accurately reflected in design updates.
Support design consistency and clarity across drawings, diagrams, and presentations.
Client & Presentation Support:
Prepare compelling presentations, visualizations, and design packages for client and stakeholder meetings.
Articulate design intent clearly through drawings, narrative, and visual storytelling.
Represent the design team during reviews, workshops, and consultant coordination.
Mentorship & Team Support:
Mentor junior and intermediate designers in design iteration, digital skills, and documentation habits.
Provide guidance and critique that elevate the design quality across the team.
Contribute to internal knowledge‑sharing, studio research, and design discussions.
Requirements
8+ years of professional experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual and technical clarity.
Master’s degree in architecture.
Advanced proficiency in Rhino and Grasshopper; strong Revit skills preferred.
Experience coordinating with structural, MEP, façade, landscape, and sustainability consultants.
Strong understanding of building systems, materials, and architectural detailing.
Experience working on complex, large‑scale, or design‑forward projects.
Excellent communication skills—visual, written, and verbal.
Familiarity with NYC zoning, DOB processes, local construction practices and familiarity with Austin Building Codes, TCM, Urban Planning Policies, Codes, and Regulations.
