Opportunity WSP is seeking a Geographic Information Systems candidate with 1‑3 years of experience to support our Southwest Mountain Civil Ground Engineering Team.

This position provides technical assistance and guidance for capturing, modeling, and analyzing geographical and tabular data to illustrate and determine spatial relationships as it pertains to client projects. It also involves supporting multi‑site/phase projects, overseeing spatial mapping, discovering patterns and trends, and developing mapping applications and tools at the intersection of data analysis, programming, and cartography. Additionally, you will assist with environmental impact assessment, master planning, corrective/mitigation strategy development, permitting, and restoration activities, ensuring high‑quality deliverables that meet or exceed industry standards.

Your Impact

Lead and conduct GIS surveys and reports from field sites for project research and investigation.

Support quality control standards and procedures for accurate measurements, documentation, and high‑level analysis of incoming data.

Model and prepare topographic, thematic maps, graphs, and tabular data using GPS, aerial photographs, and other tools.

Verify integrity, accuracy, and authenticity of geospatial data collected from the field, clients, or public data sources, and prepare GIS segments for impact assessment and permitting activities (e.g., CEQA, NEPA).

Prepare data visualizations such as maps, tables, charts, reports, and illustrations for interpretation or presentation.

Oversee compliance with guidelines and project‑specific procedures, maintain data collection logs, and manage a digital library of geographic maps.

Provide informed input to planners, scientists, and engineers on spatial data analysis and interpretation, offering insight for threat mitigation, master planning, and permitting.

Assist with coordinating cross‑functional project work and interacting with CADD technicians on project documents.

Maintain or modify existing GIS databases and demonstrate proficiency with geodatabase design.

Publish and manage ArcGIS Online solutions, dashboards, and hosted feature services; interact with regulatory agencies, communities, subcontractors, and clients professionally.

Remain current in latest GIS practices, methods, and techniques.

Exercise responsible, ethical decision‑making regarding company resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, Planning, or a related field.

1‑3 years of relevant post‑education experience in GIS.

Significant experience with ESRI’s ArcGIS platform.

Understanding of AutoCAD, Python, Visual Basic, Arcade, or SQL programming.

Strong analytical skills and experience with research techniques, data modeling, digitizing files, and maintaining records and databases.

Proficiency with GPS/GNSS field equipment, plotting coordinates, and data collection.

Experience coordinating with clients, regulatory permitting and resource agencies, communities, and technical staff.

Task‑management experience with small‑to‑mid‑level projects, including tracking hours and expenses.

Effective interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with diverse audiences.

Strong self‑leadership, attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization in a dynamic work environment.

Ability to work independently and provide analytical findings with strict QA/QC.

Proficiency with business writing, office automation, and web mapping applications.

Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to reach conclusions from research, data collation, and identify effective solutions.

Track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s safety and harassment policies.

Flexible to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek and potential travel.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous consulting experience.

Experience with both ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro, and with publishing/building ArcGIS Online hosted feature services, web maps, Survey123, dashboards, and other web‑based solutions.

Compensation Expected Salary: $65,900 – $85,600 (USD) based on education, experience, and geographic location. WSP reserves the right to adjust compensation above or below the posted range.
