Job Overview

Assist in all aspects of public relations for assigned sports, including game coverage (pre- and post-game activities), proactive and reactive media efforts, and maintenance of dissemination of all statistics.

Coordinate media and public relations functions, including contributing to website content for www.guhoyas.com, encompassing web streaming, video editing, social media and other multimedia.

Manage publicity efforts for assigned sports: communications with media for event coverage, feature stories on Georgetown student-athletes, teams and athletic accomplishments.

Design, write and edit online and printed information guides, game programs, and press releases.

Coordinate social media and networking initiatives, administer historical archiving of team information, records and photos.

Work Interactions Within the Athletics Communications Office, the Assistant Director supports the strategic framework of the Department of Athletics and works closely on a daily basis to support the Associate Director of Athletics for Communications, all assigned sports, and other Communications Staff.

Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree – preferably in communications, public relations, journalism or another appropriate field.

At least one year of full‑time experience in sports information or athletic communications within intercollegiate athletics is preferred.

Knowledge of desktop publishing (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and statistical programs (e.g., StatCrew, NCAA Live Stats) – strongly encouraged, but not required.

Strong writing, interpersonal communication and computer skills.

Willingness to work a great deal of overtime, including evenings and weekends.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands Heavy daily requirements to move items up to 10 lbs, frequently to 50 lbs, and sometimes up to 100 lbs. Requires walking or standing, operatively using controls.

Pay Range $39,930.00 – $59,694.78
