The Academy of the Holy Cross is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Communications and Marketing Manager to lead the school's internal and external communications efforts. This role is responsible for creating, coordinating, and implementing a wide range of communications across print, digital, and event channels to support admissions, advancement, school spirit, and community engagement.
This is a hands-on, execution-focused role. While collaboration is key, the ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives on taking initiative and personally managing day-to-day communication tasks.
The Academy of the Holy Cross, a Catholic College preparatory school sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Cross since 1868, is dedicated to educating young women in a Christ-centered community which values diversity. Key Responsibilities:
1. Digital Communications
Edit and distribute the weekly e-newsletter and other regular school-wide communications, including communications from the Home and School Association (HSA).
Support email campaigns for admissions, advancement, and re-enrollment marketing.
Manage the school website by developing and managing content and serving as point person with vendors.
Develop and post social media content to platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.
Collaborate with departments to promote events, announcements, appeals, and success stories.
Oversee school-wide screens in the Main Academic Building, Athletic and Wellness Center and Moreau Hall and ensure content is accurate and timely
2. Events and Communications
Create and distribute invitations, save-the-dates, and promotions for school-wide events.
Provide event coverage (photography, live social posting, post-event recaps).
Coordinate messaging and visual branding across all event communications.
Initiate the cultivation of school success stories - i.e. prominent alumnae, current events, Tartans in the community - while working with the Advancement team and school constituents.
3. Marketing Support
Support Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Ads
Collaborate with Admissions and Advancement to develop and execute marketing strategies and collateral.
4. Print & Long-Form Publications
Assist with the production of print publications such as the alumnae magazine and annual report.
Coordinate with designers, printers, and photographers as needed
Ensure consistent branding and editorial voice across all publications.
5. Brand and Content Management
Maintain consistent brand standards across all platforms and materials
Serve as content gatekeeper for key institutional communications
6. Other
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field
3-5 years of experience in a communications, marketing, or comparable role; school or nonprofit experience preferred
Comfortable working independently in a small team environment and personally executing all aspects of communications tasks.
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Ability to balance self-sufficiency with feedback and direction for desired goals
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Proficiency with email marketing platforms (e.g., FinalSite), website CMS, and social media.
Experience managing print production and working with creative vendors.
Collaborative spirit and ability to thrive in a mission-driven school environment.
