Position Summary The
Designer, Dresses
is responsible for conceptualizing and designing seasonal collections that reflect the brand’s aesthetic, with a focus on
Day, Career, and Day‑to‑Evening silhouettes . This role requires strong creative vision, fabric knowledge, and the ability to build cohesive assortments aligned with brand DNA and customer needs. The designer will collaborate cross‑functionally, develop detailed tech packs, and participate in key reviews to ensure designs support margin, costing, and merchandising goals.
Key Responsibilities Color, Concept & Line Development
Develop seasonal direction, including color palettes, concepts, and themes.
Conduct ongoing research in fashion, culture, and broader trend movements.
Build seasonal mood and inspiration boards for internal alignment.
Understand the target customer and apply relevant trends to product creation.
Fabric, Print & Material Development
Research and develop fabrics, trims, and materials for each season.
Partner with print studios and converters to develop artwork suitable for dress silhouettes.
Demonstrate strong understanding of print layout, scale, and placement.
Tech Pack Creation & Cross‑Functional Support
Create detailed tech packs with accurate technical and design specifications.
Participate in sales, costing, and S&D reviews; adjust designs based on retail and merchant feedback.
Make informed design decisions to support margin improvement and sales performance.
Market Research & Business Alignment
Stay current on fashion, cultural trends, and competitive assortments across contemporary and luxury brands.
Visit boutiques, department stores, and online retailers for ongoing market research.
Interface with buyers as needed during showroom appointments.
Develop program styles upon request from concept through final execution.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design or related field required.
5–8 years of experience in the dress market, with emphasis on Day, Career, and Day‑to‑Evening categories.
Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabric development, and technical design.
Proficiency in creating detailed tech packs and collaborating with overseas manufacturers.
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and trend‑aware with the ability to design into a cohesive brand aesthetic.
