The Piping Designer will be responsible for producing 3D designs of equipment, foundations, station facilities, and pipeline facilities. Common deliverables include process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, mechanical plot plans, section views, installation details, piping isometrics, and mechanical bills of materials.
Maintain close liaison with project managers and clients to resolve all project questions, such as design requirements, standards, completion requirements, etc.
Review with the Design/Drafting Coordinator all project design changes, pending or anticipated alterations to the contract, extra work requests, and all other factors which may significantly affect manpower requirements.
Establish drafting criteria and procedure for each assigned project consistent with Company standards.
Review drafting personnel needs and reports such to the Design/Drafting Coordinator in a timely fashion so that assignment of drafting personnel can be accomplished in a manner which meets both project and division goals.
Assist engineering and project management staff with day-to-day project functions, as needed, including researching product specifications, contacting vendors, and other support functions as needed.
Although not the primary responsibility of this position, when needed, a Senior Designer has the ability to perform the responsibilities identified in the Designer job description.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Demonstrate the ability to perform all key qualifications of a Designer.
The ability to make decisions and find alternative solutions to problems.
Ability to provide clear & concise direction to assigned staff
Ability to communicate within a dynamic design team, often with contacts external to home office location.
Ability to solve complex problems and strive for innovative approaches to the design maturity process.
Ability to establish & maintain standards, processes & systems within a design team.
Capacity to conduct and participate in meetings with senior management.
Experience and Education
Technical / AS Degree preferred, 5+ years experience doing piping design
Experience with CADWorx or AutoCAD Plant 3D design software
