Job Summary The Plumbing Designer focuses primarily on the design of building‑related projects, including educational campuses, military bases, healthcare facilities, hotels, apartment buildings, retail/commercial spaces, and more using Revit and AutoCAD software.
General Duties
Design plumbing drawings for various building types
Develop system design calculations and select equipment for buildings (e.g., sump pumps, sewage ejectors, water heating systems, water booster stations)
Prepare detailed design documents
Write and edit specificationsConduct code compliance research
Collaborate with team members to coordinate services with other disciplines
Conduct site surveys to determine existing conditions
Provide construction administration support including submittal reviews and RFI responses
Skills
Familiarity with local and state codes, accepted standards, and design guidelines
Excellent work ethic and character
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively and independently
Good time management and organizational skills to plan and prioritize obligations to meet deadlines
Qualifications
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in plumbing design for various facility types
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office software
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology (preferred)
EIT/PE (preferred)
Thorough knowledge of engineering principles and experience in a broad spectrum of building types
Location and Travel On‑site in Vista, CA. Travel: 10%
