We are seeking a highly skilled CAD Designer IV to join a leading organization in the oil and gas industry. This technical role is designed for an experienced professional with a strong background in piping and mechanical design, as well as proficiency in CADWorx and AutoCAD. The CAD Designer IV will play a key part in developing and maintaining facility drawings, ensuring accuracy and compliance from conception to construction. The position is offered on a flexible hybrid basis, with the opportunity to work both in the office and remotely, and requires regular travel to field locations. This is a long‑term contract opportunity for candidates who are passionate about technical design and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and delivery of piping and mechanical drawings from initial concept through Issued-For-Construction status, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
Support engineering teams by assisting in the creation and revision of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), Facility Plot Plans, and other related technical drawings.
Develop and maintain comprehensive facility drawings for plants, stations, and above‑ground appurtenances to support Operations & Maintenance (O&M), tactical, and engineering projects.
Prepare detailed working plans, diagrams, and drawings in accordance with established specifications and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate multiple design and drafting projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high‑quality outputs.
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to determine project needs and ensure satisfaction with deliverables.
Utilize 3D modeling tools throughout the project lifecycle, including typical 30/60/90 and/or IFR/IFA phases, to enhance facility design and visualization.
Lead As‑Built and Walk‑down efforts to validate drawing accuracy, support safety initiatives, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Analyze existing business processes and support the development of sustainable, repeatable, and quantifiable improvements to enhance operational standards.
Assist with process improvement opportunities, operational standards, and procedures that focus on improved safety, increased efficiency, and reduced costs.
Apply data analysis and technological skills to fulfill data requests, generate metric reports, and support business decisions.
Collaborate with cross‑functional partners to support change management and ensure project success.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Minimum of 7-15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on piping and mechanical design.
At least 3 years of hands‑on experience with CADWorx Plant software.
At least 3 years of experience with CADWorx P&ID software.
Proven proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD‑compatible software for technical drawing and modelling.
Strong knowledge of operational and field environments, including work practices and conditions in process plants, gathering systems, pipelines, and chemical plants.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple complex assignments.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
Excellent analytical, risk assessment, and problem‑solving skills.
Willingness and ability to travel regularly (up to 25%) to field locations as required by project needs.
Must be legally authorised to work in the United States without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.
Pay Range: $48.00 – $52.00 Hourly
This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
