Job Summary The Program Assistant, Communications & Events position supports the overall administration of the Department of Environment, Development & Health (EDH) in the School of International Service. This position reports to the EDH Department Manager and works closely with the Academic Program Coordinator. The primary focus of this position will be supporting the communications products and activities of the department as well as events.
Essential Functions
Work on communications projects, including an archival project to celebrate the upcoming anniversary of a graduate program.
Take and collect photographs to be used on social media and in the annual report.
Develop a communications plan for social media engagement with the support of the leadership team.
Create content to advertise departmental activities and events.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
Part-time.
10 hours per week.
Hybrid work modality.
This position requires the ability to assist with in-person events & activities as needed, estimated 2x per week for about 4 hours per week (though this may vary depending on schedule and needs).
Salary Range
$17.95 – $18.50 per hour.
Required Education and Experience
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to work in multicultural environments.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
Customer Service focus is essential.
Comfortable moving event tables/chairs and able to lift 25 pounds.
Preferred Education and Experience
Previous experience working at an AU campus office.
Experience with Canva.
Prior experience with social media is a plus.
