Responsibilities

Provide project leadership and oversight to ensure consistency with H-E-B's brand and design standards that enhance H-E-B's Customer experience.

Manage the work of Architects and Designers assigned to your projects.

Lead professional architectural guidance in the planning, design, and coordination of large complex projects.

Independently apply advanced architectural concepts and designs.

Liaise with managers, other architects, and consultants.

Participate in the conceptual site design process and provide full support throughout the entire project.

Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on specialized systems, construction administration, and cost of construction.

Develop and represent lead technical viewpoint on projects.

Design exterior and interior elevations that align with H-E-B design standards.

Perform construction documents quality control reviews for projects you and others in your studio are responsible for.

Coordinate with the director, managers, and the Group Vice President on appropriate technical solutions and product strategies.

Lead the development team for complex, large‑footprint wall‑to‑wall remodels, expansions, or new buildings requiring close collaboration with internal and external Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Refrigeration teams.

Evaluate consultant add‑service and base proposals for adherence to scope, schedules, and quality needed for the project.

Provide issue resolution and direct negotiations with consultants.

Be responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned major project, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that best meet business needs.

Once eligible, become an Owner in the company, demonstrating commitment, hard work, and focus on quality and Customer service.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Architecture

7+ years of relevant experience

Architectural license preferred

Relevant project experience

Advanced knowledge of building systems and their coordination/integration (structural, architectural, MEPR)

Knowledge of building codes, environmental regulations, accessibility codes, and direct application of such regulations

Experience in site and landscape design, sanitation concerns, appropriate materials use, and construction methods

Influence on specifications and criteria development

Advanced knowledge of the design and construction process to mitigate risks on complex projects

Ability to manage goals of each design & construction phase, including generation of site construction observations, formal punch list walks, RFI & submittal approval, and post‑occupancy walk best practices

Capability to manage projects from Real Estate hand‑off to Grand Opening using project management software

Skills in tracking project status, risks, and schedule changes, and prioritizing projects and resources

Power user of SketchUp, Revit, AutoCAD, 2‑D & 3‑D modeling and visualization, Bluebeam, and MS Office suite

Strong verbal, written, graphic, process, and PowerPoint presentation communication skills

Job Requirements

Function in a fast‑paced, retail, office environment

Travel by car or plane with overnight stays

Work extended hours (09:00-20:00)
