Marketing Statement Are you a talented Graphic Designer looking for a new opportunity to flex your creative muscles? Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is seeking an experienced, creative, and forward-thinking, Graphic designer to join our growing team.

The ideal candidate has multimedia design experience and a good understanding of technologies that are utilized for Graphic design concept world. The candidate should be able to hit the ground running, adhering to transit brand guidelines, and be comfortable working through the entire design process creating top-level executing creative solutions.

As a Graphic designer, you must have a meticulous eye for detail and a level of creativity that sets you out from the rest. You will be responsible for designing a range of designs, from creative content, from concept to final product, including social media content, print materials (brochures, fact sheets & maps), displays (banners & posters), animations, and infographics. You will work across multiple clients requiring you to proficiently use the adobe creative suite and must be able to work well under pressure, ensuring the highest standards are consistently achieved and all deadlines are met. Job Description Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is seeking an experienced, creative, and forward-thinking, Graphic designer to join our growing team.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in graphic design, Multimedia design, Fine Arts, or related field

Experience

A minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated graphic and multimedia design experience within an advertising agency or in-house design team preferred.

Certification / Licensure

N/A

Preferred

Master's Degree Graphic Design, Multimedia design, Fine Arts, or related field

Video, photography and animation skills a plus

Summary The Graphic Designer transforms and interprets ideas and information into clear visual products (illustrations, publications, visual aids, etc.) The incumbent produces a wide variety of creative content, from concept to final product, including social content, print materials (brochures, fact sheets & maps), displays (banners & posters), animations, and infographics. The Graphic Designer communicates visually to a diverse audience about transit services, including translating complicated wayfinding directions into visually appealing and easily understood graphics.

Essential Functions

Develops and designs layouts across all mediums, both print and digital that have a clear focus, theme, and message for intended audiences.

Transforms and interprets ideas and information from creative briefs into visual products (illustrations, publications, visual aids, etc.)

Meets with copywriters, videographers, research teams, and project managers to ideate and brainstorm on creative solutions to communications problems.

Assists with all aspects of production and design of visual communications that help create awareness and appreciation for Metro initiatives, from concept to final file preparation.

Understands and complies with mobile-first best practices for digital design.

Organizes and stores creative assets into a Digital Asset Management tool.

Other Functions

Maintains technical knowledge and design trends by attending design workshops and professional societies.

Listens and accepts feedback regarding initial drafts and incorporates feedback into the next round of deliverables in a timely fashion.

Meets deadlines for multiple creative projects and communicates effectively about priorities.
