Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is seeking an experienced, creative, and forward‑thinking Graphic Designer to join our growing team.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop layouts across all mediums, both print and digital, that have a clear focus, theme, and message for intended audiences.

Transform and interpret ideas and information from creative briefs into visual products such as illustrations, publications, visual aids, infographics, and animations.

Meet with copywriters, videographers, research teams, and project managers to ideate and brainstorm creative solutions to communications problems.

Assist with all aspects of production and design of visual communications that promote Metro initiatives, from concept to final file preparation.

Apply mobile‑first best practices for digital design.

Organize and store creative assets in a Digital Asset Management tool.

Maintain technical knowledge and design trends by attending workshops and professional societies.

Listen to feedback on initial drafts and incorporate revisions in a timely fashion.

Meet deadlines for multiple creative projects and communicate effectively about priorities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.

Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated graphic and multimedia design experience within an advertising agency or in‑house design team.

Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite and strong ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

Experience creating social media content, print materials (brochures, fact sheets & maps), displays (banners & posters), animations, and infographics.

Strong eye for detail and a level of creativity that sets candidates apart.

Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field; video, photography, and animation skills.
