Summary

University Advancement seeks a Video Production Student Assistant to join the Advancement Communications team and support multimedia projects. The Assistant will work with social media, photography, videography, non-linear editing software, bringing creativity and strong storytelling and design skills. Projects will add to a portfolio.

Essential Functions

  • Contribute to development of videos highlighting student achievements, faculty research, and alumni accomplishments. Work on concept development, setup/strike-down, editing, exporting audio transcripts, music curation, and sorting clips/B‑Roll.
  • Reformat and caption videos for various social media platforms.
  • Create effective, original, on‑brand digital materials for Advancement division webpages and the AU Alumni Association channels.
  • Update and maintain the departmental digital asset management system: organize, name, and tag video B‑Roll and photography.
  • Capture photography and videography on campus to support projects.
  • Assist the Assistant Director of Advancement Communications and the Director with administrative tasks as needed.

Position Type / Expected Hours

  • Part‑time. Student.
  • 15 hours per week.

Salary Range

$17.95 per hour.

Required Education and Experience

  • Must be able to work 10‑15 hours per week.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Mature judgment and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to manage separate projects and meet deadlines.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Video production and editing skills.
  • Photography production and editing skills.
  • Proficient in Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro.
  • Strong working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Preference for majors in communications, journalism, graphic design, film, or marketing.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Students with a Federal Work Study Award encouraged.
  • Graduate students encouraged.
  • Portfolio of class or work samples.
