About the role

Seeking a skilled Instructional Designer to support a federal IT application and multimedia program. The ideal candidate will have expertise in instructional design, technical content development, and strong visual design skills to create engaging and effective learning materials. This mid-level role offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex IT systems training, combining creativity with technical knowledge in a hybrid work environment based in Ashburn, VA.

Job Responsibilities

  • Apply ADDIE Instructional Systems Design methodology to analyze training needs and develop learning objectives.
  • Design and develop instructional materials including briefings, reference guides, job aids, simulations, and online help content.
  • Create and enhance visual learning assets such as graphics, layouts, infographics, animations, and multimedia elements.
  • Incorporate modern learning technologies like gamification, mobile demos, avatars, 3D modeling, and virtual reality where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Confluence.
  • Continuously update and refine instructional materials based on feedback and system updates.
  • Recommend and implement learning strategies aligned with program goals.
  • Develop web-based and self-paced learning modules to support continuous skill development.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Graphic Design, or related field.
  • Proven experience in instructional design supporting IT applications or technical environments.
  • Strong graphics and visual design skills for learning content development.
  • Experience with eLearning tools such as Adobe Captivate.
  • Familiarity with Agile collaboration tools like JIRA, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Confluence.
  • U.S. Citizenship and active DHS Public Trust clearance required; CBP or Top Secret clearance preferred.
  • Ability to work onsite full-time if required, currently hybrid schedule (2 days onsite, 3 days remote).
  • Strong creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams and stakeholders.
