Overview

Away Together is hiring a Head of Content to sharpen, scale, and operate our established media platform. We are a high-growth, $1M-per-year YouTube business built from the ground up by the Founders (talent) and a small team of skilled specialists. We are looking for a specialized strategist and operator to leverage our deep existing knowledge and drive the next phase of growth.

Role: This is a "Player-Coach" role that is both deeply strategic and highly executional. You will operate as the Showrunner for the channel, running our core Long-Form Content and specializing in Vertical Content Strategy (TikTok/Shorts). You will own the entire content process from Packaging → Scripting → Production Oversight → Performance Analysis, freeing the CEO to focus on business strategy. Your north star is creating content that converts and drives business results, not just gains views.

A major focus of this role will be standing up our Shorts/TikTok ecosystem from the ground up. You’ll build the strategy, formats, and systems for vertical content using both new footage and our extensive back catalog.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the full content engine across YouTube Longform, and all Vertical Shortform (YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Meta Reels). You must be a native expert in these platforms, adapting quickly to algorithmic changes and trending formats.
  • Pitch video concepts, developing highly optimized titles, thumbnails, and smart packaging before filming.
  • Write detailed, high-retention scripts and full outlines for review, ensuring the final content guides the viewer and maximizes watch time.
  • Lead development of content calendars and own distribution of all assets across channels.
  • Leverage extensive library of travel, testing, and review footage into scalable vertical content that aligns with our brand voice and business goals.

Creative Management & Production

  • Manage the daily workflow of our full-time Editor and Contract Designer.
  • Provide clear, constructive creative direction and detailed reviews on all edits to ensure brand voice, quality, and platform-native execution are maintained.
  • Design processes that weave Shorts/TikTok capture and production into our existing long-form filming and editing pipeline.

Platform Strategy & Business Growth

  • Develop and evolve brand positioning in the market, ensuring consistent alignment across all content.
  • Identify external opportunities (collabs, features) and maintain strong platform fluency to adapt to trends and user behavior.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Use tools like YouTube Studio, Meta Insights, and third-party tools to track performance.
  • Prioritize metrics that move the business forward: Affiliate Conversions, CTR, watch time, and impressions.
  • Produce weekly and quarterly insight reports that clearly influence decision-making and pivot strategy.

Results

  • Drive consistent quarter-over-quarter improvements in core content metrics (CTR, watch time, retention, and affiliate conversions).
  • Strengthen packaging and content strategy to meaningfully improve click-through rates and viewer retention.
  • Build repeatable content systems that allow the team to publish at scale without sacrificing creative quality.
  • Increase brand visibility, audience loyalty, and category leadership through strategic content development.

Requirements

  • Curiosity and interest in Travel, Travel Gear, and Travel Rewards/Points & Miles
  • 3 - 5 years in a senior content strategy, media production, or showrunner role for a high-growth personal brand or media company.
  • Proven experience creating and scaling high-performing content on TikTok and YouTube Shorts. You are fluent in the creative and technical nuances of these platforms.
  • A strong understanding of how to use content to drive conversions via affiliate marketing and direct product sales.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and build and manage repeatable systems that allow the Editor and Designer to operate efficiently.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with and take direction from established talent while still driving your own strategic vision.

Rhythm

  • Weekly meetings with CEO and team to review outlines, performance, and strategy
  • Content cadence (adjust based on needs):
  • 8 to 12 Long-form videos per month
  • 5 to 15 shorts per week
  • Quarterly content reports
