Job Title: Senior Investor Relations and Marketing Manager
Hours per week: 10-30
(Title flexible based on candidate experience)
Location Preferred: Washington DC or Baltimore metro area
Acceptable: Remote candidate able to attend periodic in person meetings in the DC area and events
(Hybrid work model with some travel for investor meetings and conferences.)
Overview New Markets Venture Partners (NMVP), one of the most respected venture capital firms in the US focused on education, workforce development, and mission driven innovation, is seeking a senior, strategic, and relationship-oriented professional to lead a combined function in investor relations and account-based marketing.
The ideal candidate is a strategic communicator with experience building targeted marketing campaigns, managing investor and stakeholder pipelines, developing tailored content for specific audiences, and using data driven insights to strengthen outreach. Candidates with exposure to education, workforce, philanthropy, edtech, or impact investing will be especially strong fits.
Pillar 1: Investor Relations and Fundraising 1. Current Investor Engagement
Conduct research on existing Limited Partners (“LP”) to understand their priorities, portfolio activity, and alignment with NMVP strategies
Prepare tailored briefing documents, investor profiles, and talking points for NMVP partners
Support scheduling and manage continuous engagement with current investors
Track all LP interactions and follow ups in an organized pipeline system
2. Prospective Investor Identification and Outreach
Research and identify high potential prospective LPs across foundations, endowments, RIAs, family offices, high net worth individuals, fund of funds, and corporate impact groups
Build and refine segmented prospect lists that guide marketing and outreach strategies
Conduct first touch outreach to prospective LPs to determine interest and schedule partner meetings
Represent NMVP professionally in early-stage conversations and manage follow up communications
Participate in prospective LP meetings and maintain notes, action items, and next steps
3. Fundraising Materials and Investor Collateral
Develop and maintain alongside investment team high quality investor materials including pitch decks, firm overview one pagers, impact reports, case studies, performance updates, and talking points
Ensure consistent messaging, visual quality, and accuracy across all investor materials
Produce compliance aware materials appropriate for Reg D fundraising environments
4. Investor Pipeline and Strategy Support
Maintain a structured pipeline system to track all stages of LP engagement
Summarize market trends and philanthropic priorities to inform NMVP fundraising strategy
Support investor communications including email updates, follow ups, summaries, and reporting
Provide insights that strengthen NMVP’s outreach, targeting, and investor narrative
Pillar 2: Strategic Account Based Marketing 1. Account Based Marketing Strategy
Develop and execute targeted marketing strategies for specific LP segments
Foundations
Education philanthropies and corporations
Family offices
Impact focused corporate partners
Endowments and mission aligned institutions
Build profiles of high priority investor groups and tailor messaging accordingly
Align all marketing campaigns with fundraising pipeline priorities
2. Content Development and Campaign Execution
Produce customized outreach content that speaks directly to LP interests
Personalized email campaigns
Targeted one pagers
Segmented newsletters
Case studies and impact stories
Develop and maintain a content calendar aligned with investor engagement windows
Partner with NMVP leadership to ensure messaging is strategic and audience aligned
3. Digital Presence and Thought Leadership
Manage and elevate NMVP’s LinkedIn, quarterly newsletter, and additional social media presence through targeted posts designed to reach priority investor audiences
Use analytics to refine messaging and identify the content that resonates with investors
Oversee updates to the NMVP website and ensure messaging aligns with fundraising goals
4. Events and Stakeholder Engagement
Develop event specific marketing strategies for investor meetings, education conferences, and limited partner convenings
Manage conference calendar and submit proposals for potential speaker engagements
Prepare materials, scripts, and speaking notes for NMVP team members at sector events
Ensure consistent brand messaging in all external interactions
5. Weekly News and Strategic Communications
Lead production of the Weekly News Update with an account based focus
Draft additional communications including newsletters, announcements, and impact content
Experience and Qualifications Required Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in accredited and institutional investor relations, account based marketing, fundraising, philanthropy, communications, financial services, or impact investing
Experience developing targeted content and segmented outreach campaigns
Strong writing, copywriting, editing, research, and executive communication skills
Strong project management experience involving multiple internal and external stakeholders
Strength in presentation development using PowerPoint Canva or Adobe
Experience with digital marketing platforms (i.e. Mailchimp) and website development platforms (i.e. Wix)
Confidence interacting with senior leaders, investors, and investors
Ability to work independently while exercising strong judgment and discretion
Preferred Experience
Experience in education, workforce and mental health sectors
Existing or emerging relationships within the philanthropic and education funding ecosystem
Significant experience in development or advancement roles focused on cultivating and securing philanthropic funding and/or experience supporting fundraising in venture capital, private equity, or alternative asset environments from foundations, family offices, education philanthropies, and mission driven institutional investors
Marketing experience in brand building, social media, and copywriting
Demonstrated success managing donor pipelines, stewardship activities, and investor communications
Strong understanding of foundation and philanthropic decision-making processes, investment priorities, and grantmaking strategies
Experience preparing proposals, cases for support, tailored outreach materials, and customized investor communications
Familiarity with impact reporting, donor engagement strategies, and mission aligned program narratives
Understanding of impact measurement, ESG frameworks, and approaches used by mission-oriented investors
Ability to distill complex research and data into clear, concise insights for senior leadership
