Position Summary The Editorial & Operations Manager serves as the centralized engine that brings strategy, structure, and consistency to Panorama’s enterprise editorial function and External Affairs operations.

This role manages planning and implementation of Panorama’s strategic editorial calendar—across program communications, enterprise storytelling, thought leadership, and content that amplifies our value proposition to accelerate social impact.

The Manager will design and run editorial processes, coordinate cross-functional content development, and ensure that Panorama tells a cohesive, compelling, and timely story about our work and value proposition.

The role requires strong writing and editing skills, exceptional project and process management, and the ability to collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality content—from blogs to research releases to media pitches to digital assets. This position provides connective tissue that keeps Panorama’s editorial strategy intentional, aligned with organizational priorities, and executed smoothly with all components in place. We expect this leader to continually identify opportunities to strengthen systems, workflows, and content quality—and, with your support, to drive improvements that enhance the effectiveness and impact of Panorama’s editorial function.

This exempt, full-time position reports to the Director of Development & Marketing. Candidates must be based in one of Panorama’s hub cities (Seattle, Denver, Washington, DC, and New York City). For Seattle and NYC, employees are expected to work in the office four days per week starting in 2026. In Washington, DC and Denver, this requirement will go into effect once the offices are established no earlier than Q4 2026.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Strategic Editorial Planning & Content Development Lead the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of Panorama’s enterprise editorial calendar across programs, strategic initiatives, and business development priorities.

Translate organizational and departmental strategies into clear editorial priorities, timelines, and workflows.

Manage end-to-end editorial project lifecycles, ensuring planning, drafting, reviews, design, digital preparation, and dissemination are connected and on schedule.

Write and edit a range of content including: blog posts, storytelling pieces, partner features; media pitches and press materials; research summaries, briefs, and dissemination copy; website updates and campaign content

Ensure consistent voice, brand alignment, and clarity in all published materials.

Coordinate with internal writers, program communications, external partners, graphic designers, and web staff to ensure editorial harmony and cross-team alignment.

Maintain and enforce editorial standards, templates, and processes to strengthen quality, repeatability, and efficiency across the enterprise.

Serve as editor for content tied to Panorama’s brand narrative, campaigns, partnerships, and thought leadership priorities.

Communications Operations & Cross-Functional Coordination Manage communications operations for the External Affairs team, including workflows, process documentation, project tracking, and alignment with organizational systems.

Establish and oversee clear intake processes, timelines, roles, and responsibilities for all editorial workstreams.

Drive cross-team collaboration with Program Comms, Portfolio Managers, Partnerships, Strategy, Digital, and external collaborators to ensure smooth execution of launches and dissemination.

Monitor progress of all editorial deliverables, flag risks proactively, and ensure deadlines are met without unnecessary rush.

Ensure content production is strategic—not ad hoc—and supports brand amplification and Panorama’s unique value proposition.

Manage department-wide tools and infrastructure that support editorial operations (Asana).

Provide coaching and guidance to junior staff or contributors on editorial process, project management, and content expectations.

As needed, provide timely inputs for co-design and development of initiatives, proposals, briefings/debriefs, reports, and knowledge sharing efforts.

Provide required timely and accurate recording of data and other information via Harvest, Salesforce, Lattice, SharePoint, and Certify.

May manage Individual Contributors and/or Interns, ensuring Panorama’s performance management concepts are upheld, and supporting their professional development and learning.

Participate in and actively contribute to internal Learning & Development opportunities, including People Managers training sessions.

Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities The ideal candidate will bring 6-8 years of experience in editorial management, content strategy, communications, journalism, or a related field, with excellent writing, editing, storytelling, and synthesis skills.

Strong project management and organizational abilities are essential, including the capacity to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.

This role requires someone who can translate complex programmatic work into clear and compelling narratives, build effective cross-functional relationships, and coordinate content processes across writers, designers, and digital teams.

The successful candidate will be adept at implementing departmental strategies, leading editorial initiatives from planning through execution, and demonstrating a commitment to Panorama’s core values of vision, integrity, partnership, and impact.

Desired Qualifications Additional desired qualifications include: Experience managing editorial calendars for nonprofits, social impact organizations, or other mission-driven enterprises, as well as experience with media relations or translating research into public-facing content.

Experience developing or managing content workflows, templates, or editorial guidance.

Familiarity with CRM systems or content operations is helpful, and experience collaborating with external partners or featured storytellers is also valued.

Compensation & Benefits The starting salary for this role is $90,000-$102,000. When determining an initial offer, we carefully consider these factors: candidate skills and experience; room for growth within the band; and internal equity across the team. Alongside salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including: Flexible paid time off
