Job Summary
The Designer will serve as a contact for the customer when assigned a specific project by the Design Leader. The Designer uses Solid Works software to create machine parts, lines, and equipment, ensuring the quality of mechanical design packages. The role requires the Designer to work independently to achieve desired outcomes while collaborating closely with Engineers, Machinists, and Assemblers during component fabrication and assembly.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Meet with customer for project planning after Design Lead assigns project
- Design projects using Solid Works software; create drawings and drawing packages according to customer standards
- Consistently communicate with and review designs/drawings with customer
- Get quotes for commercial and manufactured items
- Verify parts have been ordered
- Assist in assembly of designed and run‑off equipment
- Verify assembly of design and run‑off equipment meets the customer’s standards and upload/maintain files in the Customer’s Change Management System
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma required; Associate’s Degree or technical degree preferred, other qualifications acceptable
- Business Experience: Prior years’ work related to design preferred
- Design Experience: 5+ years design‑related experience
- Licenses/Certifications: Excellent knowledge of SolidWorks; SolidWorks programming experience marked as a plus
- Language Skills: English proficiency
Technical Qualifications & Skills
- SolidWorks programming experience
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical capabilities required to complete projects
- Ability to communicate well with customer and EMCOR team
- High‑level problem‑solving skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and make decisions at a fast pace
- Ability to translate general equipment design requirements/ideas into functional detailed designs
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a non‑repetitive basis.
Work Environment
Corporate office and high bay lab environment inside a research and development center.
