Salary: $111,826 - 139,783 | Job type: Full‑time Permanent | Location: Washington DC | Hybrid: 1 day in office / Remote
Responsibilities
Design IB onboarding, authorization and evaluation processes, protocols and develop school and educator support resources.
Manage the development, publication, revision, and ongoing interpretation of education standards and practices.
Manage the development of organization‑wide policies and processes related to the schools’ or school systems journey of onboarding, authorization, implementation and evaluation of IB’s educational offers and/or programmes.
Design the documentation for upskilling IB staff and IB Educators who support schools and school systems.
Manage the design, development and refinement of the policies for IB continuum of international education.
Collaborate with departments and individuals across the organization to provide guidance and input to work which impacts IB‑associated schools, or will be impacted by the school authorization, development, and evaluation processes and other interactions with these schools.
Create prototypes, pilots, or scalable models for systemic education reforms.
Interpret and understand complex, interdependent structures in schools and school systems (e.g. governance, curriculum, assessment).
Design flexible and adaptable education standards and practices that account for multiple contexts of IB education authorization and implementation.
Translate schools and school systems requirements into proposals for service and product innovation to drive improvements that better meet children’s needs.
Analyze complex school system contexts to inform timely decision making.
Recommend when and how agreed authorization and evaluation policies, processes, and services need modification.
Apply human‑centred design thinking to reimagine an IB education.
Interpret education data (e.g., equity gaps, funding flows) to inform policy review and design.
Evaluate policy impact across different regions globally to inform IB education review and redesign.
Ability to model or simulate the effects of systemic changes in the education landscape.
Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree or above in education or related area and proven track record of experience; OR Bachelor’s degree and demonstrated senior‑level expertise and experience in education sector (teaching, school administration/leadership, school district‑level, NGO/non‑profit, or university work).
Experience in creative design through active collaboration with and management of external stakeholders and experts in the field of school improvement or similar area.
Experience in or proven ability to develop the skills of data gathering, analysis and problem solving in the creation of new services or products.
Experience in administering and managing one or more IB educational programmes within a school or school system.
Experience in the development and planning of new initiatives and their successful implementation within an educational or similar sector.
Ability to communicate effectively at various levels to different audiences.
Ability to establish a culture of open communication, innovation and teamwork within and across teams, organizations, and regions.
Familiarity with current educational trends, legislation, policies globally & international education.
Ability to achieve organizational goals, demonstrate drive for improvement, and overcome obstacles and resistance.
Ability to think and act strategically.
