This position is anticipated to work on-site per our workplace flexibility guidelines at our offices located in Atlanta, GA, Lisle, IL, or Wichita, KS.

Our Team

Our Intellectual Property team consists of attorneys and legal professionals dedicated to supporting the diverse global businesses of Koch Inc.

What You Will Do

  • Manage and oversee the administration of Koch's global trademark portfolios, which includes conducting availability searches, preparing and filing assignments for trademark ownership transfers, and assisting in trademark oppositions, cancellations, and litigations.
  • Safeguard and maintain Koch's copyrights by evaluating products, websites, and software systems, advising on copyright filings, and managing registration processes.
  • Research enforcement matters and draft cease and desist letters.
  • Prepare and file documents with the USPTO and WIPO, including new IP applications, office action responses, recordals, assignments, declarations, and other related documents.
  • Communicate with outside counsel and Koch team members to track deadlines effectively, generate portfolio reports, manage docket reports, and conduct docket meetings with Koch IP attorneys and business clients.
  • Compile relevant information for portfolio reviews, annuity payment decisions, maintenance filings, and renewals; liaise with vendors and team members to request IP searches and process results for attorneys and clients.
  • Create new matters in team databases, upload correspondence, and maintain organized electronic files for IP matters, while overseeing document destruction in line with company record retention policies.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience with US and Foreign Trademark and Copyright office procedures, prosecution, and maintenance.
  • Proficient in running and analyzing trademark clearance searches.
  • Familiarity with terminology used in the intellectual property field, particularly regarding trademarks and copyrights.
  • Experience in drafting trademark recitations of goods and services.
  • Experience with US and International Trademark and Copyright office procedures, prosecution, and maintenance.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Associate's degree or higher.
  • Experience with docketing and workflow systems (e.g., MemotechAnaqua, First to File), trademark search and clearance platforms (e.g., Corsearch), document management systems, and e-billing systems (e.g., SimpleLegal).
  • Prior experience as an in-house IP paralegal.
  • Experience in administering global patent portfolios.
  • Familiarity with AI tools, legal front door technology, or managing data/metrics.

Compensation

For this role, we anticipate paying between $40/hr and $60/hr. This position may be eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
