Overview
The Packaging Designer will be responsible for creating visually compelling designs for all packaging materials across our client’s product line, including artwork and layouts for external boxes, inserts, and printed collateral. The role requires a strong sense of brand aesthetics, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex product information into clear, premium‑quality designs.
The ideal candidate combines creativity with technical expertise in print design and understands how to adapt designs for different materials and finishes. They will collaborate closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure packaging assets meet brand standards and production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Packaging Design: Create designs for all packaging components, including box exteriors, inserts, and printed collateral, ensuring alignment with the client’s brand guidelines.
- Brand Consistency: Maintain visual integrity and consistency across all packaging touchpoints, balancing aesthetics with functional requirements.
- Material & Print Adaptation: Design with an understanding of various packaging materials, finishes, and printing techniques to ensure accurate and high‑quality output.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, marketing, and operations teams to align packaging design with product launches and marketing campaigns.
- Vendor Coordination: Prepare and deliver print‑ready files to external vendors, ensuring specifications meet production standards.
- Quality Assurance: Review proofs and samples to confirm color accuracy, typography, and overall design fidelity.
- Innovation: Stay informed on packaging design trends and sustainability practices to bring fresh ideas to the client’s packaging strategy.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 4+ years in packaging design or related roles within premium consumer brands (health tech, lifestyle, or electronics preferred).
- Technical Skills: Expertise in print design, color management, and preparing production‑ready files.
- Creative Skills: Strong visual design capabilities with a portfolio showcasing packaging work for premium products.
- Tools: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and familiarity with print production workflows.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high‑quality standards.
- Communication: Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams and external vendors.
Compensation & Employment
This is a 6‑month W2 contract, 100% remote. The position is based out of San Francisco, CA. Pay ranges from $60 to $75 per hour, with hourly rates between $70.00 and $75.00 depending on experience.
