Director User Experience, Design Engineering

We’re looking for a Director of Design Engineering to lead our front‑end engineering team and scale our design system (designsystem.citizensbank.com) into a world‑class platform that powers efficiency and consistency across the enterprise.
What You’ll Do
Lead, grow, and mentor a team of front‑end engineers focused on Front End development expertise.
Drive the success of the Citizens Design System by managing intake of requests, working with internal partners, and helping prioritize system features.
Drive the development and adoption of scalable, reusable components that power Citizens’ design system.
Partner with design and product teams to validate, test, and optimize patterns for usability and performance.
Advocate standards and design system adoption across the enterprise in roadshows, education, presentations, and building relationships across the organization.
What We’re Looking For
10+ years in front‑end development experience, with 5+ years in leadership roles.
Proven experience building and scaling design systems in enterprise environments.
Deep technical expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, TypeScript (or similar frameworks).
Understanding of Mobile Development practices in iOS and Android, using Kotlin and Swift.
A collaborative leader who can inspire teams and influence across design, product, and engineering.
Knowledge and understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) is a plus.
