Job Overview
The Graphic Design Specialist is a mid-level designer role that works under the direction of the Graphic Design & Creative Operations Manager to design and format various firm branded materials and visual concepts that inspire, inform, and captivate.
This position requires graphic and web design skills to develop a variety of visual assets in digital, print and other mediums, ensuring brand continuity and consistency for a wide variety of marketing, branding, print and digital communications. Digital projects include email campaigns, invitations, social media graphics, digital ads, blogs, and newsletters. Graphic design projects for printing include onsite large scale event displays, creating promotional materials, advertising, promo items, stationary, and client communications.
This role has a hybrid working arrangement. Potential candidates must live within commuting distance of Washington, DC office to be onsite 3 days per week. In this role, you will report to the Graphic Design & Creative Operations Manager.
Essential Functions
Design and format high-end presentations and graphics in PowerPoint.
Design and format firm-branded marketing and communications collateral in Word and InDesign, including creating, editing and formatting layouts, charts, graphics, icons, and other visuals.
Source, retouch, and upload photos.
Maintain the DAM.
Create social media graphics and infographics.
Provide other graphic support as it relates to pitches, presentations, and digital communications.
Create and format marketing and event graphics, such as invites, displays, flyers, signage, stationary, and agendas.
Format and edit print collateral including brochures, placemats, newsletters and ads.
Source and create promotional and branded items.
Work independently to manage projects throughout the project life cycle, liaising with client/key stakeholders, the Creative team, and vendors as appropriate.
Collaborate with various internal and external clients including team members, lawyers, business services professionals, and third-party vendors.
Evaluate client requests, manage deadlines, and recommend effective, creative solutions within brand guidelines and in budget.
Manage end-to-end various projects.
Suggest and implement direct marketing methods.
Respond to daily marketing requests, balancing immediate need against long-term priorities.
Stay current on industry trends, including emerging technologies and AI design tools, and incorporate them where applicable to improve workflow efficiency and creative innovation.
Provide administrative and operational support for studio functions, including coordinating vendors, scheduling photo shoots, and managing project workflows from intake through delivery.
Assist with day-to-day studio operations, including tracking deliverables, managing timelines, and ensuring smooth workflow handoffs between team members and departments.
Support intake and trafficking of incoming design requests, prioritizing and assigning work in collaboration with the Graphic Design & Creative Operations Manager to maintain clarity and efficiency.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Work additional hours as needed to fulfill job requirements.

Skills/Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a graphic designer in-house in professional service or relevant legal environment.
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Fine Art, Graphic Design, or equivalent.
Experience in branding initiatives.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to develop positive working relationships (in-person and virtually).
Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple tasks with effective organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage workload.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proven problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
Unquestioned integrity and professionalism.
Solid knowledge of Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign), Canva, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, Figma, or other design software.
Knowledge of general photography, photography editing, and image manipulation in Adobe Photoshop.
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, WordPress.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
Proficient in web-based conference call/web-sharing applications.
Maintaining high standards for innovation, presentation, and attention to detail.
Promote positive work habits, including effective and timely communication, teamwork, and demonstrating respect for colleagues.
Contribute to providing the highest quality of service to internal and external clients.
Take appropriate initiative and ownership of job responsibilities while ensuring the assignments/job duties are performed successfully and on time.
Understand and abide by firm policies and embrace firm values.
Ability to maintain regular attendance and work regularly scheduled hours.
Ability to sit for long periods of time, type, and handle light lifting (files, copy paper, etc.) in a professional office environment.
Comply with safe work practices including compliance with the firm’s COVID-19 policies and safety measures.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $90,000. Actual salaries will depend on a candidate's geographic location, relevant experience, and skillset. The salary range listed is just one component of Blank Rome’s total compensation package for employees. Other monetary rewards include annual discretionary bonuses based on performance and profit-sharing contributions based on eligibility and firm profitability.
In addition, Blank Rome provides a comprehensive suite of benefits to promote health and financial security, including medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as life, accident, and disability insurance plans.
