About the Opportunity Our client is a fast-growing national accounting advisory firm and trusted partner to CFOs and Chief Accounting Officers across complex, highly regulated industries. The firm is actively expanding its Media & Entertainment (M&E) practice and is seeking a senior leader to help shape, grow, and lead this vertical at a national level.
This role is ideal for an industry specialist who has built a strong foundation in Big 4 public accounting and subsequently held senior accounting leadership roles within Media & Entertainment organizations, such as studios, streaming platforms, production companies, or digital media businesses.
The Role As Managing Director within the Media & Entertainment practice, you will serve as a hands‑on engagement leader, technical authority, and trusted advisor to senior finance leaders. You will own client delivery, help define best practices for M&E accounting challenges, and play a key role in scaling the firm’s presence in this space. This position may be based in Los Angeles or New York City.
Key Responsibilities
Lead complex accounting and technical advisory engagements with minimal partner involvement
Serve as the primary engagement leader and senior client contact, owning delivery quality and client relationships
Apply deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and Media & Entertainment accounting matters, including content capitalization and impairment; revenue recognition for media and licensing arrangements; and valuation and accounting for intellectual property
Oversee multiple concurrent client engagements and ensure timely, high‑quality deliverables
Develop and deliver targeted training and thought leadership focused on M&E‑specific accounting topics
Mentor and develop Directors, Senior Managers, Managers, and Consultants within the practice
Contribute to practice growth by expanding relationships, identifying new opportunities, and shaping the firm’s M&E go‑to‑market strategy
Represent the firm within the Media & Entertainment ecosystem through industry events, conferences, and professional organizations
Uphold a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional excellence
Ideal Background & Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred)
Progressive accounting experience, typically including: (1) Big 4 public accounting experience at the Manager or Senior Manager level; and (2) Subsequent leadership experience in industry (e.g., Controller, CAO, or similar) within Media & Entertainment
Strong command of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting
Proven ability to communicate complex accounting issues clearly to senior stakeholders
Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and practice‑building experience
Entrepreneurial mindset with strong relationship‑building skills
Compensation The compensation package includes:
Base salary up to
$250,000
Annual bonus approximately
20% of base
Long‑term incentive awards of up to
$100,000
